There are a lot of things that make your score rise. The main thing that I have found is to contribute by writing interesting hubs, answering questions, asking questions...basically be a participant in the Hub community. You will find it is a great place to hang out and read some pretty cool stuff, make new friends, and even earn a little cash with adsense if you like.
Answering questions help but publishing good hubs is the main key to a better score.
