    Duplicate posts is bad for google seo, but isn't that essentially a backlink?

    I want to post my articles on hubpages and my own personal blog. But, some people suggested that it was not wise since google does not like identical material. I understand this, but doe it not contradict the idea of a backlink? What if I pasted the url to my hubpages article on my blog?

    You cannot have the same material on multiple domains because that would be duplicate content. But you can write a short story on your blog that discusses what the article is about and then link from your blog to your hub. That would be a nice backlink.

    Pasting the URL is a backlink, copying the content itself is not. For my blog, I tend to write a short intro about the article (including a few of my keywords so Google can still find it) and then link to the article on Hubpages. If the option is available on your blog, a lot of people prefer to set it to open a new tab when someone clicks your link so that visitors are not moved off of your blog when they want to read the external article.
