What programs do photographers recommend?
I starting a photography job in a studio. They are going to be training me. I'd like to do my own side jobs like birthday parties, maternity, babies, weddings, baby showers, etc. Whats a good software that you like to use? I'd like to use something that's cheap but can do crazy effects.
Photoshop is always good, but for the ease of use get GIMP, you can download it free of charge.

What camera would you recommend for a newbie photographer?Cameras scare me . . . but I really need to get one and learn to take good photos for this site (and for things like Ebay). What camera would you recommend / do you use? What options on the camera would you recommend/not recommend?
