I am new to hubpages and already read some guides etc. But I think I still didn't get backlinking.
So, what is this now? You create links on your hub, so the readers can be directed to another hub resp. website. Would I have any benefits at all?
If you create backlinks to your own hubs from other websites, you potentially increase your hub's findability in the search engines. Backlinks are a sign for search engines that this site/page is of value. This will increase traffic to your hubs.
If you create backlinks to your other sites from hubpages, this will increase value and traffic to your own site once your hubscore is above 75. Try not to use more than 2 links to your website, if that''s what you would like to do. If your hubscore is under 75, your links have a tag "rel="nofollow", which means the links have almost no value for search engines. this tag disappears after you get 75 points.
If you link to other hubs from your own hub, this will increase your hubscore and will send traffic to those hubs you link to. It's good for your hubscore if you want to keep it above 75.
Hope this helps!
This would have benefits, because if you were to backlink, post your hub links on other sites, then your hubs would likely reach a larger audiance, getting more traffic.

After 6 months on the site i've started the really wonder how many backlinks is a reasonable number to any hub, and really to a hub becoming successful? Or is it simply a lottery. What kind of figures do other hubbers consider?

Hi there, I'd been on Hubpages for 6 months now but probably been active for only 2 or 3 weeks. At the moment, I have 7 hubs and only 1 have breached the 80 mark (75-85). Most are in the 70s. 1-2 will drop down to 60s every now and then. So my question is, how do you make a hub go above 80 in...
