Found an "unofficially" CC-licensed image. Is it usable?
To be specific, I found an image on DeviantArt that I'd like to use in a hub. It isn't officially CC-branded, but the creator included language in the image's description that implies that it's free to use as long as you attribute, seemingly equivalent to a CC BY.
"Please give me credit if you use this graphic unless it is for a profile picture."
Is this good enough grounds to use the image with appropriate attribution without clearing it with the creator first, or should I try to contact him for more official permission?
Hi Eric. There doesn't seem to be any licensing info on deviantArt which I know has caused problems in the past (see Wikipedia entry - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DeviantArt) You can always drop the creator a line via his comment box if you want to stay completely legal. Regards H.
