    My fellow hubbers,

    What am I doing wrong?

I post loads of hubs - post quite a bit in the forums - however, I've only got 26 fans...

In the mean time I see people with only 9 or 10 hubs with hundreds of fans...

    What is their secret?

    I am rather confused.

    Luke.

Yeah, I don't believe in fanning sprees - Charisma though, surely that is almost impossible to show accurately online?

you should read lots of other hubs... i think it is what you write which makes you popular? sometimes the title says it all, dont fret, you will have more fans as soon as time goes by,i think if you continue to join forums etc, people will notice about it (your thoghts etc)

maybe I can change my pics too? lol

You have only been writing again on this account for a couple of weeks, of course people who have had 9 or 10 hubs will have more.... if they have had months worth of readership.

If they like your work ,they will fan you and often peole read a comment on the forum youve made and add you for that reason too...alternatively add someone and they may add you back.

Its not all about one area though , more a combination of all.

Personally I try to  improve my hubs , content ,quality etc , because ultimately its your work that improves your whole persona ( well thats my theory )

Good Luck and welcome back by the way smile

I love poetry smile n now a fan. Just drop into the forums now n again, say a word here n there. Promote your hubs outside of HP in signatures, forums, RSS, etc., people will notice. Got to get noticed wink

I've started advertising it on my facebook page - however, unfortunately where I come from the majority of people are only interested in drugs, sex and raveing. Noone is really interested in the inner workings of the human mind. Ah well...

Don't worry about it!  Keep writing what you enjoy and do an excellent job at it.  While you may not rack up fans, you will get read, preferably by those outside of HP.

Oh, and the higher you hub score, the more you will get fanned by those on a fanning spree! (Don't expect them to read tho.)

It breaks my heart when people do that - ideally I want people who are actualy fans to fan up. My hubscore is gradually rising - should be 90ish by the end of the day since I have just posted a huge hub I've been working on for a while and am working on another essay now.

Unfortunatley I have found myself unable to write anymore poetry since I found my close friends and family reading it to eachother behind my back - it crippled my creativity.

It doesn't take a genius to work out that friends and family are going to find your poetry after you chose to promote it on your facebook page. Surely you cannot dangle the carrot in front of them and then be upset when they take a chomp. Why not set up a second login, and continue to write under that, until you can face posting to this one again?

Ah, its not so much that which annoys me. It was my parents nabbing my portfolio whilst I was away and showing it to all their friends. Alot of my stuff is vulgar - rude - about drugs, sex and all that jazz. That was the key issue.

Not to mention you lot, on here, don't feel the need to be nice about my work. You can slag it off all you want and offer constructive critism. There is nothing worse when you're aunt has read one of your poems about sex and congratulates you on it.

All my poetry is in my portfolio - only a small selection is online. The small selection I don't mind people reading.

Tantrum explained to you - Charisma.
That equates to all round style.

Nothing to do with your avator... except I imagine it is conspicuous by it's absence from other's hub comments that would indicate that you may be interested in more than just yourself hmm

Don't take my word for it... I'm a kiwi!

Haha, I didn't actually expect the picture to help. I just thought a change was welcome.

On the plus side, since this mornings hubs five more people have fanned up.

How important are legions of fans from within the hub pages?

    1. bigmikeh profile image68
bigmikehposted 14 years agoin reply to this

Not important at all - unless you have a fragile ego which needs boosting, and few real life friends. It's been said before, hubbers rarely click ads so if you're here to make money it's search engine traffic you need, not fans.

I have the same issue, but I think over-stressing it will make things worse.  hmm

You should try visiting the  forums and reading others hubs and leaving comments and feedback and maybe even joining someone else fan club. I don't think it can hurt. creativeone59
