Has Hubpages become a dumping ground for mediocre and vanilla hub content?

I am convinced that the censorship on hubpages has gotten completely out of hand and has turned this venue into a completely mundane and boring collection of  redundant babble.

I have to say, I am not sure it is censorship that is the problem.  A lot of people write but only a few write really well.  Some of my stuff isn't the best.  I can see the growth as I have written more hubs.  Many hubs don't cite their work and you really have no way to know if any of the hubs are credible or not.  We can't do HonCode certifications or anything.  So, while I like hubpages I see problems with authority and grammar.

Citation Capsule?  Excellent idea Lwelch! I hope they listen.

I haven't been here all that long, but I do see a lot of hubs written about the same things or along the same lines.  I assume those are the topics that generate a lot of traffic.
I would like to see more hubbers cite the source of their information.  We all know most of us don't have the kind of knowledge you read here just off the top of our heads.

Yes! I have requested a citation capsule.  I think it would help.

Really? I haven't notice that so much.  But I am very concerned about the poor quality of many hubs.  If we want to be taken seriously we need quality content here.

I would hate to think that someone Googles something, comes up with Hubpages and then dismisses it because they've been here before and seen some of the bad hubs that seem to abound. That isn't good for any of us.

After an online fiasco at an online forum where I was called out about something, I generally do my best to provide sources and links, or at least an example. If I am taking a quote or a source from a book, I will at least give the title of the book.

I am also working on improving the overall layout of my articles while also trying to improve my grammar. I have read one book, will be reading it again, and will be doing some mental exercises as since some of the issues I do have with grammar comes from this.

I do agree that having poorly constructed hubs and the like can bring other thoughts of content down. It is why I did my hub about Using Magazine Layout principles to create better reading experiences for people. I can spend about 1 hour if not more just working on all the matters of the lay out of my hubs.

As far as overall reputation of hubpages, though I would like that be better, my goal is to work on my own reputation and just have people instead of doing random google searches just be willing to type in my name instead because they enjoyed what they ready previously. When you have an opening writing forum like this, you are going to have good and bad. I realized that my goal is to make myself and my articles have a trademark all their own so that they will separate themselves out from the bad. As a matter of fact, since I setup my new badging for my hubs I have go back and rework many of my hubs. Something I will be doing the rest of this week.

Ugh, can tell its been a long day of writing when the words don't come out correctly or things are added to them that shouldn't be there.
