What is happening to my hub pages followers?

Can anyone enlighten me? last night I had 99 followers, this morning I'm told by hub pages that I have 2 new followers, however, the number on my profile remains at 99, this has happened before I just assumed people had stop following. If this is the case, then surely HP would inform me???

I don't think we are informed when someone decides not to follow.   I think there are some that follow, expect to be followed in return and when they are not, they "unfollow" - just a guess.

I have noticed that since our option to view new hubbers etc. was removed that the number of new followers for me seems to be much slower.  Perhaps that's just a coincidence, but in any case I do miss the options to seeing and greeting some of the new hubbers:)   I often found people that I wished to follow myself that way!

Another explanation for the drop would be the fact that the number of followers you have stated on your profile gets updated daily so perhaps your number hasn't been updated yet. An easy way to check your exact number of followers at the moment would be to go to your profile page and check what number is stated in the "follow" box.

Correct. Followers usually get updated immediately as shown by the profile image, but can be late to update elsewhere. However, Tobusiness' follower number does show 99 either way.

I have on occasion stopped following someone. It's not a reflection on the quality of their hubs necessarily. Sometimes someone I'm following posts or shares lots of hubs on subjects I don't care for and I stop following to stop all that from showing up in my feed. Sometimes you follow based on a hub or two you like and that turns out to be outside of what is the norm for that hubber. I wouldn't worry about it as long as they're not leaving in droves. You can't please all of the people all of the time.

Hi Sherry, I don't really mind if people decide to stop following, although its a privilege when they follow. The problem for me, is not knowing if this is the case, thank you for the comment.
