How should I start out on HubPages, and writing in general?
I am completely new to writing online. I do enjoy it quite a bit, but I'm completely unsure of how to go about getting my views up. Most things I read seem to address seasoned writers or even moderate, but not complete newbies.
Try to incorporate keyword phrases to your hubs. Pick at least two with 300k plus searches. You can use the Google adwords keyword tool for this purpose. Incorporate one in your title and the two within the body of your article. Lastly, your hubs must be at least 500 words up and is free from grammar and spelling errors. Good luck!
Write what you know. Write what you love. Write on a daily basis. At this initial stage, ignore the numbers games and focus on becoming a great writer.
Read. Find writers whom you enjoy reading and study their work to see what makes it work. No, it is NOT copying to study the work of others; just don't steal their words! Read other hubs. Read the guideline hubs in the Learning Center.
Coursera.org is just one online site that allows you to take free college-level courses. Sign up for a writing class.
Writing can be fun, extremely rewarding but it is a load of WORK, nonetheless.

Will they still be allowed to continue writing for the niche sites or will this site be diluted as our best writers and their work leave for a better deal?

How does the job market expect people to start out? It seem as if you don't have experience they don't want you. How do you acquire experience these days? Maybe that is why unemployment is so high?!
