Do all new articles start out on Hubpages?

I understand the changes that have been made, such as how articles on Hubpages are no longer monetized. However, my newly published articles are automatically starting out on Hubpages. Is this normal? Do they do this with every newly published article before moving it to a site like Discover Hubpages or a niche site?

Yes, articles do start out on HubPages. They move to Discover later, though the switch seems to be quite rapid. After that, they’ll be moved to a niche site if they’re suitable.

Thank you. I noticed that some of my articles I recently published had a high score and were featured, but were still on Hubpages so I was confused. Thanks for the clarification.

Once the articles pass QAP, they'll be moved to Discover, unless deemed worthy of one of the more focused niche sites, then they'll go there instead.

Don't they do the QAP when they decide if an article is featured and give it a score?

Not necessarily. All articles are given a score just for being published. Once articles pass QAP and find a "home",  scores will be based on traffic and search results.

You seem to have had a different experience from me. My articles and those of at least some of the people that I follow go from HubPages to Discover quickly and then afterwards (if they’re selected) go from Discover to a niche site.

Don't be discouraged, Alicia. I think the HP editors take the weekends off. You'll see quicker movement once the work week starts back up.

Hi, Shauna. I’m not discouraged or concerned about my personal situation. I was just trying to point out the sequence of events that I’ve observed over time.

Linda, I apologize. I know AliciaC is you, but got confused and thought I was responding to Angel. You're a veteran here, so you know how it works. That said, movement and traffic is slow on the weekends. I know I don't do much HP reading on the weekends and the HP staff is off like the rest of us who still work full time.

All articles start out on HubPages.

Only one of my articles has ever been moved to a niche site without my initiation. And it had nothing to do with quality, but everything to do with the amount of traffic it received. I've since overhauled said article and divided it into three.

If you want your articles on the niche sites, usually, you need to initiate that move. In "Author View" mode, there's a big button at the top called, "Submit to a HubPages Network Site."

You're allowed to submit one article every two weeks.

    Good luck!

Thank you! I know how to submit them to niche sites, etc. but I never noticed that they started out on Hubpages instead of Discover Hubpages until now so I was a little concerned.

I think the sojourn on HubPages is very short; it's like a post-publication editing window. I've seen articles on Discover that, because of their poor quality, quickly go back to HubPages.

Once on Discover, they are then assessed for a network site. That can take a couple of days or a couple of weeks. It's automatic and I think I've only had to submit a newish article once.
