If you want to use google analytics you don't need to add a meta tag. If you go to the "your account" page, and then go to the "earnings" page (yeah it doesn't make much sense for it to be on this page), you can configure your google analytics account information. Then hubpages will automatically put the appropriate analytics code in all your pages.

Thanks.  I didn't know they were put there by hubpages.  That makes it easier.  I have been trying to use the web tools in google analytics to try to drive traffic to my site and also to find topics in demand to write on.  Any suggestions?

If you look at the Traffic Sources > Search Engine Optimization (might need some setup, just follow the instructions) it'll show you what search results your hubs show up in and where.

hey! i can understand your problem.. you needn't use meta tags to verify your google analytics account! Check the hub in the learning center named "How to activate google analytics for hubpages". this will give you a clear idea. actually its easy! u needn't use html or meta tags..

Thanks.  I didn't realize that hubpages takes care of that for me.  I went to web tools in google analytics and they asked that I install meta tags so that I can prove ownership to my page.  I am confused with google analytics and how to use it.
