How high are your not featured hubs numbers?

It seems like my unfeatured hubs are multiplying rapidly, exponentially...is anyone else experiencing this recent phenomenon?

The number of hubs I have idled seems to fluctuate from day to day.  I have had as many as 18 idled hubs, but then it suddenly went down to 8.  Then there were 12, then down to 8 again.  Sometimes it goes as high as 16 idled hubs, and then for no apparent reason it will go back down to 8.  It hasn't been below 8 in several months.

Wrylilt said recently that it makes more sense to write new hubs than to keep messing with the older ones.  Sometimes no matter what title you use or what you do to promote a particular hub, it just isn't a subject that interests people at the time.

Make sure you have the right box checked at the bottom of your profile page so that all of your hubs are visible on your profile page.  That way anyone visiting your profile page can access and read those hubs that have been idled if they want to.  Advertising is still on them and you still get credit when someone reads them just like you do your featured hubs.  After all your hard work you may as well get all you can from them, yes?

Idled hubs do not affect your hubber score or anything else.  They're just sitting there minding their own business and may very well get traffic from time to time if you've made them available -- just not enough traffic to satisfy HP.

I think you're right Au Fait.  I have edited, added photos, even videos and they still remain "not featured".  I guess I'll just keep writing.

The #1 thing is title.  Make it tempting, even sensational.  #2 is promotion by whatever means you can.  If these things don't work, I recommend moving on and writing something new that may get more traffic.

I do not have any unfeatured hubs now, as I edited the two that went unfeatured and they are featured now.  However, I only have 81 hubs, so mine are not into the hundreds of hubs.  I cannot image one who has hundreds of hubs, just how in the world they will be able to edit all of them!  I do not understand how hubs were featured for so long and considered quality, and now not?  Over the past couple of months or so, I have been going back over every hub and editng, editng, editing, without the knowledge of these upcoming new "guidelines" to follow for an "evergreen" hub.

I have over 300 hubs with 46 not featured.  I think Au Fait is right.  I'm not going to spend much more time editing hubs whose status never changes.

I used to edit my hubs too, buying into the perfecting idea, but a few weeks later they only became idle again.

I have 26 hubs so far, and the ones that are not featured are near the bottom of my list.  There was one that climbed for a short period of time but then fell back down.

For the first time in one year at HP, one of my successful hubs was 'non featured' last week. I was really upset. I made some changes, changed the title, added a video and it got 'featured' again. But those with a large number of hubs must be finding it very difficult and depressing. But it seems,  that's the way it will be at HP, now onwards.

I had a few unfeatured hubs and every now and then I would add more content to try and get it featured... it would work, but only for a few days and then it would become unfeatured again. After awhile I decided to stop updating them (because it was wasting time and I wasn't going anywhere with it), the interesting thing being that these hubs became featured again on their own.

I think the main reason that hubs are unfeatured on Hubpages is because of traffic, and if a Hub never gets good traffic, I know that eventually it will become unfeatured. I have a few of them that I know will soon be in this situation as yours. Do you try updating them, or just leave them? For now, I think I will try updating them once or twice and if that doesn't work, leave it be and see what happens.

My highest hub score for an unfeatured Hub is 69.

You are correct there with unfeatured hubs losing its "feature" due to traffic. I know we discussed this in the Apprenticeship program one time before.

I have written 14 hubs till now and all of them are featured. It is a good experience for me so far. There was a couple of them that cleared the quality test but were not featured. I tweaked them a little and they were good to be marked as featured. I have noticed people here working on not-featured hubs later to have them marked featured. This is expected to take a lot of time. Also when you are writing something on an idea, the flow of thoughts would not be same if you edit them after a long time. I would suggest to get the hubs featured in the very first attempt..

Myefforts, once a hub is featured, it is not necessarily going to be featured forever. The problem some people have is that it gets un featured, so that is why they end up tweaking them again later on.
Congrats on having 14 quality hubs!

Kathryn is write MyEfforts.  Every hub I write is featured and most stay that way, but some just fall by the wayside.  I have gotten some "re" featured.

Kathyrn Stratford & tillsontitan, Thanks for your comments. You guys are absolutely right. I just logged in today and found status of one of my hubs  changed with a mark, 'needs revision'. I will now work on it to have it re-featured. Thanks agai

Currently, I don't have any unfeatured hubs. However, my lowest score for a hub is "69" while my highest is a "91."

With that being said, I see you're in the Apprenticeship program. Therefore, you should do well with your current and future hubs. Make them stellar, and you can't go wrong. All hubs written during the Apprenticeship program and for six months thereafter should stay featured.

Therefore, you may want to re-write some of your old hubs that weren't getting much traffic and delete the old. Good luck with everything! wink

While I agree Abby I have to add that some "featured" titles do worse than other hubs.  In spite of all the knowledge I gained from the Apprentice Program, I still think its a crap shoot!

Yeah, I don't understand how it all works. Currently, I have the lowest hub score of all my Apprenticeship team mates, but I have more comments, followers, etc. than some, while they still have higher scores with no comments and little followers. hmm

I have written total 19 hubs till now and all were featured in the first instance. In the last couple of weeks, 2 of my hubs got ' not featured' status. Today, I have made several changes in them and now waiting for the result.. Fingers crossed!!

I have  some but have not bothered counting them because I have about 288 Hubs. I think it's ridiculous the way things are changing on Hubpages. I've published 2 Hubs today and they are unfeatured. I have Hubs that have been written over 2 years but just few weeks ago happened to have "a violation." I just ignore them.

It's important that people write on other sites and Not put all their eggs in one basket. Things are changing a lot here.
