It means the number given is an estimate. Once Google, Hp, ebay, or whatever place you are referring to finalizes everything the number will be changed to an exact number.
That's on ads program. I got $ 0.33. So it's only an estimate. Where could i see the real earning?
They will be posted in the exact spot when the ads program gets the exact. This could be hours or a couple of days. Be patient.

I still have an * next to earnings as far back as Dec 19th. I've seen it go for a week before but never almost 2. Anyone else having these issues?Is this because of the holidays or is this a technical error?
