So I've been going in and updating hubs to get them into featured status again. Yesterday two of the hubs that I fixed by deleting ads, updating photos and links and adding new text not only stayed in the not featured status, but they got worse. They went from not featured for lack of audience to not featured for quality, but there are no violations or any kind of hint as to what is wrong with them.
How do I find out what they aren't happy with?
You need to provide some link to your article or the titles of articles that you want to look into. Glenn provided some tips, though.
If you are referring to the one you just edited an hour ago, I took a look at that one.
You have an Amazon ad near the end without any content in the ad capsule explaining that you read that book and why you recommend it. You also need to make it clear that it relates 100% to the title of your hub. Without all of that, it is considered spam and hurts the quality of your hub.
I would also recommend removing the section "Other Articles You May Like" - It comes across as too self-promotional the way you did it. I realize those other hubs are on the same subject, but there is a fine line between offering more useful content and trying to spam the reader.
As Venkatachari mentioned, we really need a link to take a look at this and make suggestions.
Lol Sorry, I wasn't looking for tips on a specific article, more just a general answer because this happened to several articles.
No problem. I hope you figured out what was wrong. That happened to me last year when I was doing a lot of editing and was running into Amazon capsules that no longer met the different requirements.
Strange though. I went in and updated them fixing all of the "problems" they've noted on all previous articles and they got noted as worse. But then this morning, they were all featured again without me having to change anything. Lol
Very glad to hear that. Congrats, VVan.
But, each article has its own content and its own style of presentation. So, you can't know the problem unless you edit hundreds of times. Read again and again to catch the defects. Glenn Stok hinted at some points. But, nobody can locate the real problem for each and every article.
So, VVanNess, it is better to post each article separately in forums for help.
I am still having one of my most popular article as not featured and am unable to locate what is the problem with it. I am editing it again and again since two months and also made changes according to some suggestions provided through e-mail by our HP team. But, not featured till now. If anybody can help me, they are welcome. It is already posted in the forums one month ago.

http://hubpages.com/holidays/gifts-for- … doctor-whoI've rewritten this article three times, though I understand why it stopped being featured and it wasn't because it was badly written, but because they changed the rules from the first time I posted it and I didn't notice. This was...

I recently had a hub un-featured for engagement, as the half-circle indicates. I think this is an unfair practice and should be eliminated entirely. Here's why I feel this way:Our hub traffic is often affected by the time of year, holidays, seasons, and current events to name a few. If left alone,...

I am hoping the Hub staff read this. I get so frustrated when my article does not pass after tryingeverything I can think of to fix the problem. It could be as simple as changing the photo but instead I am re-writing my article, cutting out good stuff that might lower the quality, when nothing is...

Could someone please take a look at my hub on Reflexology and tell me where I have gone wrong? I stopped writing hubs for a long time because I felt it wasn't worth the effort, but with all the new safeguards and quality checks hubpages have put in place, I decided to begin again- I put so much...

I have finally published a hub that has been deemed unfeatured. I can only direct my attention to a table I inserted which was long when viewed on the mobile platform. Grammar is checked, titles tweaked, content is solid as its in the same vein as my other articles. Do you think this could be it?...

I think I know something about writing articles. I created a new hub yesterday. HubPages took 24 hours before declaring, in one of their mystery messages, that it was of sufficient quality. You know what? It was too good. I deleted it and will now easily place it elsewhere and earn with it.No...
