Hi everyone, I have joined Hubpages yesterday and have submitted three articles till now. I received a notification from the moderator to edit the article stating it had spammy elements.
I had linked this my second article Perfect-Playdate-Ideas-For-Your-Toddler with a youtube video on a funny playdate idea turned bad because I felt it was relevant to the topic. To add a little humour to the topic.
However, I am wondering if that was the only spammy element? I have removed the youtube video and re-published it. However, just wanted little guidance on what are these possible spammy elements.
P.S: I have read the instructions on spammy elements on Hubpages. I am still little confused about it. Any help or clarity will be highly appreciated!
Thank you!
Sonya
If you have any outward bound links they might be causing problems.
I'm looking at your Entertain Your Toddler article, as that's the only one visible on your profile. You have bold text keywords all over the intro. That is pretty spammy. You don't need to do that, or to include keywords in an unnatural manner. All those techniques are long gone. Google hates them.
I would also say that it's thin on content. The rainy day box is a good idea, but the rest of it is a bit predictable. It's also a bit short. Around 1,000 words for this topic would be ideal.
I'm sure you'll do well. Meanwhile why not read some of the articles in the Learning Center. Just click Help, top right.
Thank you for the insightful help theraggededge.
I will surely add more content and follow the basic guidelines of keep the articles as natural as I can.
Meanwhile, will read some of the articles in the Learning Center as well. Thankyou for guiding.
Regards
Sonia
Spammy elements usually refer to inappropriately used or excess product advertisements on Amazon or having too many links, even to your own work. One link would not cause an article problems, the ones that normally do are those that show up in lists, such as in tables of contents, etc. Much depends on the length of your hub and its topic because all links need to be highly relevant to your content.
Welcome Sonya, to HubPages.
Thanks also for submitting 3 articles.
The mail you received from the moderator is an automated mail. Did you write for a specific website in mind?
Please, re-edit and review your hub and submitted same again.
Thank you, and once again, welcome.
Hi Miebakagh57,
Thankyou for the responding,
Did you write for a specific website in mind? - No, it was not for a website but for a particular niche "Baby care" I added a youtube video for little fun information.
However, I did re-edit the article. It has been re-published and now featured as well.
Looking forward to learning more on Hubpages and grow with everyone.
regards
Sonia
Being featured only means it is okay and has no major faults. In order to get a decent page rank on Google, and get some organic traffic, you need to have your hub moved to a vertical site. That is what he was referring to.
Take a look at the site "We have kids" (you can click on the link on your feed page) and look at the articles there. Is your article of good enough quality to be moved to that site. You might follow theraggededge´s suggestion because it is so thin. There might be other things you need to improve.
Also check the articles on other websites that come up on search when you enter your title into the search bar. Is your article better than they are? Why not? If it is not, you need to improve it.
Had a look at the hub in question. Didn't notice any links. Nonetheless, the spammy elements may well refer to the repeated use of bold text for the term 'playdate.' This is an outdated SEO trick which is likely to do more harm than good.
Your article is on the short side, yet you have used the following terms in bold text:
First playdate
Perfect playdate ideas
Hosting a playdate
Playdate event
Toys for playdate
Playdate ideas
In addition to this, you have used the term in 3 of your photos.
Also, are you sure it's 'playdate' and not 'play date?' (Edit: Ignore this, it seems like a US spelling.)
Hope this helps, but try and write naturally, not solely for keywords.
Thankyou for replying Marketing Merit.
Actually, originally these articles were written in the natural flowy manner. However, while I was publishing and editing, I went through different articles where I read about the keywords and suggestive keywords etc. Those keywords weren't there before. I added them considering they would help.
But if you suggest writing a natural tone would help, then I will definitely stick to my writing routine like I usually write. By the way, the link has been removed now. It was a youtube link. It's been taken care and the article has been approved. I will make some tweaks as per your suggestion.
Also, thankyou for taking out time to help.
Regards
Sonia
If you want to include a YouTube video Sonia, just use the video capsule. As DrMark has said, you really should be looking to get this onto the niche sites now, which may mean more tweaking.
Best of luck with this!
Thank you very much everyone for the really helpful insight. I will go ahead and work on improving this article and also be going forward will produce content with more meaningful information so that it's useful to the readers.
Much thanks for the wishes Marketing Merit

People have suggested I join Infobarrel so I did. I unpublished and deleted a hub here about La Guancha in Tenerife and thought I would use it as my first InfoBarrel article. The first problem I ran into was it said I was using a keyword too much. The keyword was roses and I was saying that there...

Hello Hubbers! I'm fairly new to HubPages, I've been here about a week now and love the community so far! Anyway, I was thinking, since we all have the same goal; to make money, get readers and help people, I thought I would make a topic for us all to discuss the best places to post our HubPages...

I saw a dramatic traffic drop today and went to notice that over 100 of my hubs are not featured. While I can understand some of my older ones published over 4 years ago were not that great, some of them were published just months ago and are engaging, have beautiful pictures and very few links....

I know views have been dismal after the mass move to Discover; however, my top articles were still seeing enough views to stick around, and I was averaging over 150 views total per day even after the move. It has been almost two weeks with views closer to zero than fifty. My top articles are not...

I am brand spanking new to Hubpages and I am conflicted. While I yearn for the freedom from the day to day grind of a workaday job by the millions of dollars I envision will pour in from my Hubpages site, I am still hesitant. I have read a lot of the instructional material and helpful hubpages, as...
