    Hi all,

This is a father's day gift buying hub suggestion hub I wrote called 15 Awesome Father's Day Gifts for Nerds and Geeks. It's not being featured because of quality. I took out the links that weren't Amazon capsules and those weren't snipped...

    Thank you,
    Teeuwynn

Hi -- I can almost guarantee you that the problem is too many amazon links. Nowadays the basic limit is two links, no matter how many words you have. Google devalues pages with lots of sales links, so HP is following suit.

Agreed.  In addition, you really need to know how to place ads appropriately which means they have to be placed near the capsule where you discuss the product, you have to say why they are better than similar products and you have to show that you personally (or someone close to you) has used the product and has good experience with it.

Most product hubs don't make it to niche sites because they appear spammy when they have too many ads.

I believe I did what you said as far as the Amazon capsules go. I've pulled the other links. I'm just hoping to get them featured. I know I like finding gift guides online.

    Great topic!

In skimming through your article, some grammatical errors came to my attention in response to your question.

    Some examples:

"There’s not much more special than...."
Better option:   "There isn't anything much more special than...." or "There aren't many things much more special than..."

"Unfortunately, a lot of men feel uncomfortable total around traditional...
Better option: "Unfortunately, a lot of (or many) men feel totally uncomfortable around traditional...

Many writers here on HP use grammarly.com to help edit their writing.

    Hope this helps.

I thought it was done well...how long ago did you submit it? Maybe they haven't checked it out yet.

Just today. The only thing I could think of was selling things... but I thought a gift article was okay?

They probably haven't gotten to it. Sometimes they take up to 48hours. My income stats from yesterday aren't up yet so I'm thinking they're extra busy today.

The hub has potential. Take a break from the piece then come back to reread it. Look for word repetition in sentences and paragraphs. Make it a rule for yourself to work on the phrasing until you have nearly none. You don't want the post to read as if you've added words just to increase the word count.

Several grammar mistakes that should've been caught in your proof reading jumped out as I skimmed through the post.  Again, stepping away for a break and coming back for a fresh proofing is a good idea before posting articles.

Reading the HP guidelines and others' work will help you understand what works and what doesn't. Everyone has their own error niche smile but it's important to keep honing our writing skills, to continue learning and raising the bar for ourselves.

Thanks. All my other articles have been automatically featured, but I just posted two gift giving guides and got the quality mark. I've made some edits and will look again to make more, but I don't think they are that much worse than my other articles.

That's why I was wondering if the gift giving aspect was a problem.

I must have misread your initial question. Posting gift guides is perfectly acceptable and can keep a person quite productive.

Apart from some awkward phrases and grammatical errors- for example the first words in your piece reads There's isn't instead of There isn't- I think the problem may be the number of product links. I wrote a gift guide that had far less amazon links and more words describing each gift than yours do and it got accepted to a niche site, but only after they had all been snipped.
I can't tell you exactly what the secret is to writing a good product promoting hub, but maybe you could revise HP's policy on that to see if you may have used too many?
Good luck in getting it moved. I liked many of your ideas.

Thanks. I looked through this other gift giving guide and took out all links except for the Amazon capsules (which still feels weird because it makes it harder for people to find the items) and this still isn't featured. Any more help would be greatly appreciated. I haven't written gift buying guides before. Is it just that links would be better and Amazon capsules are not as good?

I searched google for father's day gifts - you have a lot of competition! The following are things I noticed about the top search results.

    1. Most of them include 2018 in their title.

    2. They make it easy to see where to source the items recommended. (Store or website is mentioned and not always with a click-thru link. Where you have no link, you do not say where to buy.)

    3. They give pros and cons in their reviews (You seem to only give the positives).

I just had a product/gift Hub rejected for a niche and it had one Amazon text link and lots of views from Pinterest. It has even had sales of the gift idea in the last year for me and HPs.  I guess mine will stay as a generic Hub. Your gift needs specific wording and clear indication that you own the item and have used it. Try trimming it down to one item instead of 15. 15 Best etc for Shopping category is not an acceptable format any longer.

That's not correct paperfacets. The owner, Paul Edmondson often publishes this type of hub.

Take a look at this example and you can see how he does it and gets it moved to a niche site.

I think it's fine to list 15 recommended gifts, but only include one or two Amazon links.
