Recipes from other sites are accompanied by a photo and star rating.

You need to add a "rating" content capsule to your article. Go into edit and look at the right-hand side. It's one of the recipe capsules.

I have done Beth and placed it at the bottom. Maybe I need to add some text to it?

Yes, you need to put something in the "capsule subtitle" as that is the only thing the search engine sees.

Unfortunately, Google has turned some of these features off for HubPages because authors were so consistently misusing them in the past and putting them on articles that weren't recipes.

Wasn't that back on HP though? Delishably should be a whole different story, I assume.

Yes, that is on HubPages. Google will have the option to honor the code and display that info on articles from Delishably, but they do not always do so. As far as I know, they don't disclose why.

Oh okay. Thanks for getting back to me about that.

I just did a quick search for recipes from Delishably and none show pictures in SERPs, even though some of them have a ratings capsule with a title. Could be a bug. I'll add some text anyway.

I've just done a few searches to see where and how my Delishably articles appear in Google search results. Some of them do appear at the top with snippets and /or photos, but only ones that have high traffic and low competition.

So maybe your recipe hubs are on topics that have high competition.

Also Pinterest is able to extract photos when a result is displayed in SERPs and the ingredients are displayed on a pin when viewed on their website. Presumably it somehow detects the guide is a recipe.

When I search for your "The Secret to Making Light and Fluffy Scrambled Eggs" article, a photo appears, but no stars even though you've included a star capsule. Other similar recipes in the SERPs display stars. Maybe it's got something to do with my browser being an old version.

This is not a bug on delishhably. Check out my hub on Hub Pages SEO, I've explained how you grab the image snippet. The text and image and all other elements on the top can be and are very often grabbed from different websites. You need to make sure that Google thinks yours is the best.

Read the section "Stealing the search snippet"

Thanks lobobrandon, your section on stealing the search snippet is really useful.

I don't mean the snippet Brandon. It's the list of results that seem to be absent of images and/or stars for some websites. Maybe only some results in the list are assigned photos?

Ah! I see what you mean, I had to check out Beth's scambled eggs hub for that.

The reason rating starts do not show is because you on Delishably are self rating (from what I see) and there is no JSON or schema markup that provides an aggregate rating. For instance,

Toriavey has this JSON script on their page:
      aggregateRating":{"@type":"AggregateRating","ratingValue":"4.82","ratingCount":"33"}

      The solution:

Allow readers to rate your recipe and once that is done, HP needs to place the necessary JSON script on the pages. They probably do this already, not sure. I couldn't find any review hub that allows readers to vote.

I don't know why the stars don't appear for my ranked articles.
