So glad you used this quote at this time! What a gift his mother gave him, then him to us. When grownups respond to difficult circumstances with wisdom children gain strength and hope for the future.

Kenna, I believe that I told you before that Fred Rogers lived in the same neighborhood in Pittsburgh (Squirrel Hill) that I do now. I pass the church he attended every day when I am out speed walking. He is a real icon here in Pittsburgh.

Gregory, Yes! I remember! Today's his birthday. Did you see the Google Doodle today?

Hello Kenna. I just checked Google and saw the graphic. Thanks for reminding me. I was thinking of you earlier today when I walked by his old church at Forbes & Murray in the business district of Squirrel Hill. Here is a link to info about and a picture of the church:

Gregory, What a beautiful church! It was built in 1850 but rebuilt in 1902. There is so much history in local churches. They have records of just about everything that happened in their congregation.

I could be wrong, but the Sixth Presbyterian Church is probably one of two remaining churches in Squirrel Hill. (However, there are many synagogues.) Years ago, there was also a Roman Catholic church in the neighborhood, but it closed due to declining membership.

Kenna, I was in the church basement years ago for a community event. The entrance to the church itself is on Forbes Avenue, but I had to enter the church through another door on Murray Avenue. It was a Thursday evening, and there was choir practice going on upstairs.

It sounds like an awesome evening. I love the sound of choirs in church.
