Why are some articles published under a .com site? For example, wehavekids.com. Can anyone start this kind of site on HubPages? I'd love someone to enlighten me! Thanks

There is a general HP site where articles are parked before being moved to a niche site or where they stay if they are weak articles.  The HP articles don't get hardly any traffic.  Articles on niche sites such as wehavekids.com get significantly more traffic and thus earn much more money.  There are set niche sites that are created and run by HP so no one else can start one.

Thanks...so when I publish an article I can't place it on a niche site myself?

You publish your article to HP where it goes through the QAP process and is then published and featured or rejected and you can edit and resubmit.  If the article is stellar the staff will usually move it quickly to one of the niche sites or even if published you may get an email saying they want to move it but it needs to be edited to fit the criteria of the site.  You do that and they move it.  If an article isn't moved you can submit it yourself to one of the niche sites.  You can only submit one article every two weeks though if you submit one and it's close to being accepted the editor will tell you what needs to be changed to make it meet quality requirements.  While you are doing that it doesn't count against your submission cutoff.  So if you submit an article and at the end of two weeks they say it needs a little tweaking, you can work on revising it and it you resubmit it several days later you can still submit another article during that two week period.  Good luck!

That's great...I totally understand the process now! Thank you for taking the time to explain it!

You're welcome.  If you have any other questions be sure to ask.  There's a lot to read in the learning center and sometimes it can be confusing at first.  We tend to be a supportive community expecially for new writers.  There's a bit of a learning curve but once you get the way that HP does things you'll find things get much easier.  Welcome to the community!

You can’t place it on a niche site yourself, but you can submit it for consideration to be accepted.
