Why would an editor remove your own image stating that you cannot use it bc it's a violation of someone's work?

My opinion is that they found it being used elsewhere on the internet. Have you posted the photos somewhere else?

I've had my own photos rejected.  Two reasons:
      1.  Didn't fit the space - they were too "skinny" and didn't stretch across the full width of the hub.
      2.  Poor quality - I'm an admittedly poor photographer.  I know it but included the photo anyways because it illustrated what I was writing about.  HP wants high quality photos only.

Hard to say without seeing it  and the comment from the editor.  It could be a picture of a trademarked object.

If you make sure you put something like "Photo: by the author" in the caption box, you should be OK.

HP never removes photos because they are not your own, they do not check for copyright infringement with pictures. The two reasons images are removed are as OldRoses says.

If they specifically said that they removed it because of copyright infringement, that's something new.

Okay I am a big moron could not figure why—— the item was greyed because somehow the tiny box that says “ do not display this capsule” was checked. Sorry for the confusion!

Hahaha stuff like this happens to everyone, but since your hub was edited, this was probably done by the editors. The editor never really deletes an image, if they want it gone they select the do not display this capsule, but I'm only speaking from my limited editing experience here.
