On The Seeming Quest For "Originality" On HubPages

Personally - and to be as frank as I always am - I don't believe it makes intelligent sense for HubPages to insist on articles on its site not having appeared elsewhere on the internet. The most important thing is that no one is plagiarised. Inspiration is at absolutely no one's beck and call, and that I would like to repeat an opinion or whatnot on HubPages that I have before stated elsewhere does not imply that the genius with which it was stated first can be called upon at any other point in time.

Do something about the rule you have laid down concerning this. If you truly are a writer, you will know the difference between talent and inspiration - and that one of the two that should be accorded the greater value it indeed has.

Unfortunately, Google penalizes duplicate content. So duplicated pages will not get the traffic they deserve and the sites where they appear can be harmed.

What Will Apse said is correct. Wait until you see your articles that YOU wrote and YOU should be making profit from appear elsewhere on the internet and someone is profiting simply by copying and pasting something that YOU wrote. I think you'll feel differently once you start getting the "your content may have been stolen or copied" notices. Also, this is not a Hubpages rule. It's a global internet rule, basically. That's why when you search for something, you rarely see duplicate results

Original content as in original words not original ideas.

While you may disagree with this rule, you have no say in the matter because you don't own the company.  HP is a business.  They exist for the purpose of making money.  Their rules all exist for realistic and reasonable purposes.  If you don't like them, you have the choice of following them, moving your work to another site or starting your own online writing business.  End of story.

You can repeat an opinion - just not copy and paste it in the same words.

I have the same topics covered in a number of places. A good writer is able to express an idea in several different ways. Take a new viewpoint or write for a different audience. It's not that hard.
