I guess we all write for Maven now, but is there an advantage in writing for an official Maven channel over Hubpages and their network sites? How does all that fit in the bigger ecosystem. Should writers be actively trying to graduate to Maven, or is Hubpages complimentary? Same thing, different place? Are earnings any better at Maven?
I believe you need 25,000 unique visitors a month on a personal domain to move to Maven.

I would be far more concerned about the requirment that the " Hubber will be active on the vertical and build a community of users that encourages engagement and participation." Outside of a few hubs intended for semi-private use, our hubs are not geared toward encouraging engagement and participation. At least not on the level I'm thinking Maven wants to see.
I was far more concerned about the need to publish every single day! I think that is the best reason for not publishing as a "Maven".
I'd certainly agree with that! I'm quite happy where I am, publishing only a few times a year, if that. I won't become a millionaire, but I will have my time to myself and my loved ones.
They want writers who have a large following. One girl I spoke with, who had a mommy blog, was getting 1 million views a month.
Another fellow was reviewing and getting the news on "kicks" - Who was spokesman for what new sports shoe etc...and selling those shoes on his website. Making a fortune I would imagine. He had gold teeth.
Another had a site dedicated to chocolate - chocolatelove.com I think. He was one of 40 people invited to the unveiling and tasting of the newly developed "ruby" chocolate, somewhere in the far east.
Another fellow has a financial newsletter that people subscribe to for $10K a month. He was considering doing maven for a mid level entry into his product, somewhat dumbed down. He need a pipeline to get the newly rich, upcoming artists and athletes, channeling towards his bigger product, when the actually "arrive."
That's what I learned about the Maven and their vision. They are looking for extreme experts. Then the loyal following must be willing to subscribe. Maven takes 50% of the subscription.
That may be under review now with new leadership.
I've always treated Hubbing as a hobby. Maven-ing (?) sounds like it would be a grind.

I know some of the hubbers here have books published, and I am in the process of working seriously at my first book ( I have 2 other books that have been on a back burner for a while)But the one I'm working on now I WILL finish, and I'm wondering if anyone has some advice about publishing, self-...

Is it true that the 60/40 model only applies after HubPages pays their expenses? Because I have expenses too... I don't see why we should suffer because HubPages wants 40% to be pure profit AFTER their expenses.

Does anyone ever check the English composition of our Hubs for good grammar, correct word usage,...and the spelling of words. I just read a Hub by a new chum. No names no court martials. The writer rated 91 on this Hub which, quite frankly, I thought was certainly...

Hi, Does anyone know anything about the company Publish America? I sent my childrens story manuscript to them without illustrations and they apparently liked it because they want me to submit illustrations--which is not a problem. I am a bit freaked out by it because I know...
