Should I cancel Google Adsense?

So I recently find out that Hubpages no longer utilizes Google Adsense. Quite frankly, I never had much success with it at all compared to the HP earning program. During its inception, I started to make hundreds of bucks each month during my glory days on an old account. I was very grateful!

Unfortunately, I did not quite make the payout with Adsense before HubPages stopping using Adsense recently.

Should I close my Google Adsense account so I can get my remaining money? Also, if I ever want to use Adsense in the distant future, will I be able to apply again? I don't make any money from Adsense. I sell on Ebay and have Paypal for Hubpages & another writing website -- none of which require adsense. I have Youtube accounts, but don't make money off any of them.

It's your decision.  I decided to close mine, because I'm sure I don't see myself creating any more websites or blogs to earn advertising revenue, ever.

Is it easy to close the account? Do I have to request that I get my final payment or is it just automatic?

I canceled mine, because I have no plans of starting my own web site anytime soon, so there was no point in keeping it open.

I've recently closed my AdSense account and am awaiting the final payout.

Here are the steps you need to follow to close your account.

I decided to keep my Adsense account because I still make a few pennies regularly, from my blogs. Also, I don’t want to put myself in the situation whereby somewhere down the line, I’ll regret closing it.

Same here.  I kept my Adsense account because I have a website that earns a little.  I also want to keep it because I don't know what the future holds.  I like to keep my options open.

If you close your adsense account before you reach the $100 payout minimum, do they send you whatever amount it is? Or do you lose it?

It depends how much you've got.   There is a threshold, and it varies from country to country. I'm in Australia and you get paid out if the closing balance is more than $20.

I'm in the U.S. and had just a hair over $10 in my AdSense, so apparently I just made it over the threshold for a final payment.
