Hi,
I'm not sure if this is the correct place for this kind of question, but it's something that's been on my mind for quite a long time now and I'd like some help in deciding.
I'd like to finally start my own blog/website outside of hubpages and I'd like some help in deciding my niche and other technical aspects.
First, a bit about me: I've always loved to write and I've been a writer for money for a couple of years now. I've mostly done freelance ghostwriting work, but I also have a few articles published online under various pen names. And of course, I have my Hubpages account where I write about everything and anything I have a passion for. I also currently work as an online language teacher and I love learning different languages.
My other interests and passions include traveling, gardening, food, language teaching/learning. There may be a way to combine all of that into a blog, but for my very first website, I'd like to focus on just one thing and give it my all. Then in the future, I may decide to expand the niche or start another website in a different area.
Like many people, I dream about the complete freedom that I could have earning a healthy amount of passive income online. However, I know that it will take a lot of work and that it should be something that I at least somewhat enjoy so that it all doesn't feel like a huge burden. My initial objective for my website will be to share my knowledge and passions with others and hopefully help to answer their questions. Since you must sow before you can harvest and give before you can expect to receive, I would like to offer free perks to my readers and grow my audience. Then, after reaching a certain amount of constant daily pageviews (I'm aiming for around 250), I'd like to begin monetizing my blog and perhaps offer a product for purchase.
However, I am totally lost and I've never really had a blog before (I've started some in the past, but then I completely abandoned them, so they were all a joke).
I really would appreciate any advice that you guys may be able to provide me with and if some of you have your own blogs, please do share them for inspiration
Thanks in advance for your ideas and suggestions
Janisa

My personal experience with my own websites is that selling products makes the most money. It has to be a site with a topic very narrowed down and articles even more narrowed down with products for sale that are very narrowed down. Back when I had a site, I used Amazon to sell products.
