I have a problem. Whether I use the Amazon links or the capsule it takes your to Amazon US.

My writing is about local history in England and the things I link to are local history books etc so I need Amazon UK links.

Is it allowed for me to use my own Amazon Affiliate links to UK Amazon?

Can anyone help please as I don't know the best way of using Amazon UK.

    Thank you.

We've never been able to use Amazon UK. That's why I was surprised when you mentioned that you'd managed to link to it. .

Can we use our own Affiliate links or do we have to use the Hubpages links?

        HP.

We used to be able to use our own but even then, not UK. Unless someone else knows better? Maybe I am mistaken. I've never been able to use UK.

From what I can remember our tracking  code gets stripped out of links if we use them.

So there is no way to sell Amazon UK products?

That makes no sense. My readers aren't going to buy products from Amazon US?

The commission is so low now it hardly matters. I don't even bother placing Amazon on all my hubs.

To be honest, if I were you, I'd be looking to attract a more US centric or global readership. That's where the views and earnings are. I had six British hubs and have unpublished five of them. Have moved a couple of them to another site.

I've had 92 views from Google UK in the last 24 hours, but over 2,000 from Google.com. I also get lots from Australia, California (listed separately and more than UK), Bing and Pinterest. Many views are via the network sites, so try to get your articles off Discover and onto the networks.

It's a good idea to widen your audience base. That doesn't mean you can't write your local history, but you have to make it attractive to all kinds of readers. They like spooky, out-of-the-ordinary, and jaw-dropping.

Another thing you could try is to write to the National Curriculum. Make your articles good resources for UK school kids.

The thing is, I just want to write about my local history. I am writing books, and I was going to start my own blog but it's too much effort and upkeep.

I found Hubpages because I wanted somewhere to write with the possibility of earning a few ££ along the way.

I can't change what I wrote because it is just one local areas history. A lot isn't interesting to people that know the area and I can write general articles because I have no interest or time to do so.

HubPages might not be the best platform for you. You won't be able to promote your own books here in any case. Perhaps a FaceBook page would be a better idea? You could get much closer to your audience, be able to tag local media and promote your books.
