Is it worth going to the trouble of getting gobbledegook pages like these taken down? I've come across similar ones where the content is presumably scooped up automatically just to make pages that ads can be put on. This one contains content from my triangle tutorial.

Yes, it is worth it to do so because on sites like HubPages original works are often mistaken as duplicate, wrongfully unpublished, and left down for weeks to the detriment of the author who owns the original work. If these sites are allowed to keep existing it affects more and more people, so any little you do in the way of stopping it can mean a lot of time wasting and grief avoided.
I believe that the HP duplicate detectors understand the chronology of when articles are published. I think the "mistakes" mainly come from:
1. People trying to publish their own work that they've already published it somewhere else online at an earlier date.
2. People heavily quoting from material that is in the public domain, but the software doesn't understand that.
I've also seen spammers/copiers go on the forums and claim that they've been wrongly targeted for duplicating, when it's obvious they don't have good English language skills. They're hoping that someone will tell them a way around the software.
Much of my work has been duplicated multiple times, but I rarely bother trying to get the nefarious copies taken down. I don't get trouble with being wrongly accused of duplication by HP.
My view is to generally not worry about plagiarism. It almost never significantly affects ranking in the SERPs. Use your time for writing and editing.
If only we could all have the same experiences, the world would be a better place.
One of my album reviews was copied, cut into several pieces, and wound up as part of a wall of gibberish on a site full of links selling handbags (?) a while ago. I thought about taking action against it but honestly it didn't look like it was worth the trouble. I doubt anybody in their right mind would visit such a site on purpose, and if they did, they'd click right the hell off as soon as they see the page full of random nonsense. They're not going to go "Hey, there's a review of Iron Maiden's 'Brave New World' in the middle of all this bulls**t, maybe I'll stick around."

I just got hit by a duplicate content unpublishing of one of my articles. For the record, it is my own work which I had originally published on another platform and wanted to relocate here. After deleting the article from the original site, I submitted a request with Google to have that deindexed...

I have been harassed by hubpages for quite awhile. Some of my Hubs have been controversial and I think they are trying to get me kicked out, but they are accusing me of duplicate copy, which is totally untrue. I write all my own articles. I do research but never ever do I copy and paste in my...

I'm not exactly sure why duplicate articles should be a problem if they're the author's own work. Anway I posted something I've posted elsewhere and it says it's a duplicate so I deleted it from the other website and it still says duplicate. What can I do about it and is it a problem?
