    Hi Hubbers,

I'd like some help with passing the Quality Assessment Process. Will you please give feedback on my article? What can I do to improve? Thanks!

I also seem to be having some issues with posting Amazon affiliate links within my articles. What am I doing wrong? In each case I have actually bought, used, and given a first hand account of the product I’ve linked too.

    Help is very much appreciated.

      Hi Kimberly,

I'd remove the disclosure at the beginning. I don't see any references to products. It's a good idea to get used to writing and publishing articles and focus on adding Amazon later.

Go through the article to clean up some minor grammatical errors. For instance, you use 'implore' instead of 'implement'.

Use Grammarly to clean up the punctuation. It's free and you can add it to your browser.

Read the text out loud. It helps to pick up awkward phrasing and you can remove unnecessary words. Try to make sentences concise. For example, "In the weeks to follow we spent time gathering a compilation of both fresh and dry, salvaged aspen and alder wood for my upcoming projects."

      Could be rewritten as:

"During the following weeks, we gathered fresh and dried aspen and alder wood for future projects."

Crisp writing is better than wordy writing in this kind of article.

Make sure to add the source of your images. I expect they are yours, so write something like, "Photo, author's own".

Look at the last section. Every paragraph begins with 'I'. See if you can change it to mix it up a bit.

      Good luck.

I cannot thank you enough for leading me to Grammarly; this is truly a game-changer in receiving the grammatical help I need. I made edits to my article and look forward to a favorable response from the Hubpages Editing team.

You are very welcome. I can see that your wood carving could lead to a whole collection of articles. You could focus on different techniques and tools, different woods. You'll always have lots of great photos. And you can share your own learning experiences as you go.

Your hobby and your writing will feed off each other smile
