Is there a way we can delete a cell in a table?

If you want to delete a row or column (or add new ones), bring up the drop-down menu by clicking on the arrow in the grey area corresponding to the row or cells you want to change. The arrow appears when you hover the mouse cursor over the grey cells. I'm not sure what happens if you're editing on a mobile device. I presume you just tap the area. You can't delete individual cells.

HubPages should consider adding that option (delete cell, or even insert cell). It can make our work easier when editing a large table.

Do you mean delete a cell or just delete contents? Do you want to e.g. merge two cells into one or leave "holes" in a table by deleting a cell.? Why would you delete a cell? Can you screenshot an example?

When adding one or two items between rows in a table, you will need to insert a whole row which has three cells.

And to fill this extra cell, you will need to move the items below up which is a lot of work if you are editing a large table.

So, an option to delete the extra cell, or an option to insert the exact number of cells for the items you want to add to your table can really help.

EDIT: It's even more work if you insert a whole column for the purpose of adding a few items.

You cannot delete/add individual cells in any table. Not in Excel or anywhere. It has to be rows or columns. That's what makes a table a table.

I think it's possible in Excel. The other cells move to make up the table after deleting a cell(s).

You can shift the *contents* of the cell, for sure, but you still can only work with rows and columns.

You can insert new columns or rows anywhere in a table. There's an option to do this in the drop down menu. You can also import data from a CSV file (There's a bug though that limits or causes problems with import, if there are a lot of data elements, I can't remember the details, so I don't know whether it was fixed)

Let's say you insert a row (with three cells) at the beginning or even at the middle of a large table, then you fill in two cells and you're left with an empty cell. What would you do to this cell?

Well, you can't delete it unless you delete the whole row. Leave it blank. I know you are seeing it in your mind, but what do you think will be left if you delete a single cell? Answer: a blank cell. You can only work with a grid of rows and columns.

In a spreadsheet, you can move the contents until let's say, you have a single empty cell at the bottom right of the table. Then you can select the cell and remove the gridlines so it looks like a blank space. I doubt you can do that in a simple HP table.

If that's what you want then make the table in a spreadsheet, clip it as an image and insert into an image capsule.

As Bev suggests, you can screenshot a table from your favourite spreadsheet.  I screenshotted this table from Excel for a Hubpages article because I wanted do stuff in the header row that wouldn't have been possible using the table capsule.
You could put "Not Applicable" or NA or something else that's relevant in blank cells, but I don't think it's an issue to leave them blank.

Yeah, I usually move the next content until I get the empty cell at the end of the table. It's a lot of work, but it's better that way than leaving an empty cell at the middle of a table.

Importing data from a CSV file or adding a table as an image may not work well with me. It's a table I update every now and then, so I better work directly from the HP platform.

      Thanks
