    Hello HubPages Forum!

I'm new to HubPages. I've been attending a creative writing class for the last three years, but I've needed to improve. I've published four articles on Hubpages over the weekend, and I've scored 62 on a couple of them, I'm waiting for the scores on the others. I've been scored down for spammy elements, which I couldn't understand to begin with until I realised just how often I was repeating single words. I'm enjoying the process, but I feel like there are mistakes I can't quite see.

What would you suggest to avoid spam writing, because it's certainly not my intention? I've read the guidance, which is helpful. I invite constructive criticism at this point, feel free you would like to view my profile and articles, but it's general pointers I'm looking for, please.

I hope you've had a great weekend, and thanks for your time.

    Candice.

      Welcome to HugPages Candice!
You should have at least 2 photos properly credited that are allowed use on HubPages.
You should also check your article length. Your paragraphs should be broken down into smaller paragraphs.
I don't see your article about trying something new to be spammy, but it doesn't follow the proper guidelines for articles here. If you revisit the learning center, I think it would be very helpful for you. Good luck!

        Hi Janis,

Thank you for your reply! I wasn't aware the photos had to be credited. I have a stock photo license subscription, so I will look to credit them. The 'How To Try Something New' article was featured, but if it doesn't follow guidelines then I'll need to improve. I feel like read I've the guidelines over and over, but I might not fully understand, so I might have to once more!

        Thanks again!

That's great your article has been featured, but what you really want is to have your article moved over to a HubPages niche site where you will get more exposure and earn more money.

Whilst I'm in boot camp I aim to get my writing up to standard. I haven't submitted my article to a niche yet. When I have five featured articles I'll have a look. Thanks for the tip though.

      Hello Candice,
The article on HP needs editing and a personal perspective. The other suggestions posted here should help with that. However, your background in textiles is an excellent opportunity for you to write DIY articles on the topic. Peruse FeltMagnet (network site) and see if there is a topic that hasn't saturated HP or the Internet. Then, dive into that subject and write about it.

        Hello!

DIY textiles would be a great starting point. Thank you for your comment and helpful tips.

Welcome, Candice smile Happy to meet another hubber from Wales. We are very thin on the ground although I know of a couple of others.

As others have said, spending time in the Learning Center (click Help, top right to get there), will pay dividends in the long run.

Hello! Thank you for the warm welcome. I love Wales!

I think I will spend a fair bit of studying the learning centre, as I haven't got a grasp of it so far, but I'm hoping I will learn as I submit more articles.
