Can't Access HubPages Without a VPN

    I'm getting these screens. Firefox, Chrome and Edge are giving the same symptoms. I have to turn on a VPN and set it to Japan, the Netherlands or the US to view the Hubpages site.

      Eugene, I have VPN set on my computer (U.S.). Oftentimes I have to turn it off in order to access certain websites. I have it turned on now as a test to see if I could respond to your post.

      The benefits of VPN is so your IP address is not seen by the sites you visit, which is a plus on one hand, but a detriment on the other. I notice when I have VPN turned on I don't get Google ads on every page I visit based on my searches.

      Having VPN enabled is a security feature to keep your computer safe(r) from hackers.

      The general HP site does not appear to have an SSL in place, which makes the site open to hackers. Having VPN enabled on your device is a protection factor. You can always turn it off when accessing HP if you so desire.

        The thing is I've never had this problem before without a VPN turned on. I've reworded the initial post because it was a bit ambiguous. This problem only developed in the last few hours.
        The error is ssl_error_bad_cert_domain

    The site is now accessible without a VPN turned on, so something must have been fixed.

      I presumed it would likely be a temporary situation. They work on the site a lot, it seems. I'm still waiting for the “fix” that will improve views.
