HubPages doesn't operate affiliate marketing on other sites.

HubPages itself is a writing platform that shares ad revenue with its writers.

There is lots of information on the web re 'affiliate marketing for beginners'. Just copy that term into a search engine.

There isn't a yes or no answer, in my experience. It depends on the affiliate program in question.

Usually, they do prefer you to have your own website and will judge whether they want you on that.

The best way to find out is to try it. I don't think there's anything to lose.

I didn't understand before but I think Maria means, could HubPages be her website when she applies to affiliate programs?

The answer is no, because HubPages belongs to someone else and you cannot promote other companies' products here.

To join an affiliate program and promote its products you need to have your own independent website.

Bev - I interpreted the question as more basic. When you apply to affiliates, they ask you to fill out a website box. I think she was asking if using an HP address works just to join.

In my experience, it doesn't, but I'm reluctant to say it never works.

I think you're generally right about usually needing your own site to join an affiliate program.

Typically, you would then use that specific website as a landing page to sell stuff.

HP is very limited as a landing page as they only allow the sale of Amazon products.

It's not that hard to set up your own site. You can do it in a few hours and just spend $10 on a URL. Actually earning a reasonable amount of money through affiliate advertising can be much more challenging, though.
