Using the “Contact the HubPages Team” on HubPages, I asked the following question: Does the HubPages team have any plans to improve the situation for their writers?

Fairly quickly I received the following response:

    Hello,

Unfortunately, we here at the mod team cannot assign labor toward changing the site. Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.

    Thanks,
    Luke
    Team HubPages

    So I then asked:

    Hello, Luke:

Does that mean you will not be repairing the page view update function?

    Thank you for responding,
    Linda Sue Grimes

    No response yet, but I’m waiting . . .

      That is absolutely compelling.

What all does it mean? Are they in a union strike and can’t put “labor” on changing the site? Is there some sort of forbidden rule by TAG that staff can’t adjust things on HP?

      Clarity would be kindly appreciated.

As they announced some time ago, they no longer believe in the HP model. They stopped putting resources into HP and got rid of all the editors and virtually all the staff.

I can't for the life of me see what the "mystery" is.

Labor is just another word for staff/work resources!

You know I know. I’m just trying to get the beans to spill more. For… reasons.

Clearly, Luke is saying they don't have the labor to fix it. So, they will not fix it. That is my understanding. Of course, we could have told him that. Duh.

“We here at the mod team cannot assign labor toward changing the site.”

Does it also sound like they don’t have permission? As in TAG won’t give them permission? Why would TAG not give them permission? If the mod team can’t assign the labor… who can?

Could also just mean they have a skeleton crew and not enough resources to do the job, so they won’t.

Yes. It could mean they don't have permission. Still, the mod team won't be able to get it done. I take that as the final answer.

Your question to Team Hubpages was a fair one, Linda.   “Unfortunately, we here at the mod team cannot assign labor toward changing the site.”  You didn’t ask about "changing the site.”  For example, Luke and Matt assured everyone weeks ago that they were working on repairing the Stats pages.  How is this changing the site?

I guess repairing a glitch could be generically thought of "changing the site."  It does seem that admin "cannot assign labor" to do much of anything regarding the site.  However, they do slowly monetize articles, that is, move articles to "Discover."  I wonder how they afford the effort to do that.  I am also wondering if they have specifically told us somewhere that we are alone and should not be expecting any help from the HubPages Team.

Notice that Luke said in my original message: "Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns."  Yet, after I questioned about the stats freeze, I am still waiting for a response . . .

It will probably be "We are working on it and it will be fixed soon." I got that message several weeks ago, but "soon" is indefinite and seems to be a long way away.
