var ga = document.createElement('script'); ga.type = 'text/javascript'; ga.async = true;
ga.src = ('https:' == document.location.protocol ? 'https://ssl' : 'http://www') + '.google-analytics.com/ga.js';
(document.getElementsByTagName('head')[0] || document.getElementsByTagName('body')[0]).appendChild(ga);
})();
I don't know html, so I don't know if this is what I'm supposed to find when checking the source code. I can see it says google-analytics, but why isn't it the newer version with a blue hyperlink? (I expected it to be since I only signed up like 6 weeks ago) I didn't even realize I'd set up the google analytics, I thought I'd backed out - thinking it cost money when it was supposed to be free. (I've since heard, again, that its free so I don't have a problem with that part)
This is what it says it's supposed to look like:
script type="text/javascript">
var gaJsHost = (("https:" == document.location.protocol) ? "https://ssl." : "http://www.");
document.write(unescape("%3Cscript src='" + gaJsHost + "google-analytics.com/ga.js' type='text/javascript'%3E%3C/script%3E"));
var pageTracker = _gat._getTracker("UA-xxxxxx-x");
pageTracker._trackPageview();
Why are you messing around with the source code? If you link your account in the affiliate section, adsense is automatically displayed on your hubs and profile 60% of the time to make you money and 40% for HP.
At the google analytics page, it says to check the source code for which version you have for some reason or another, can't remember now what I was checking it for. And, I see, the blue hyperlink didn't show up in my post either...Oh! I remember, I wanted to verify I had google analytics set up. Cuz I thought I didn't. Guess I should assume it is? I was tired last night, and not understanding anything!!
Oops sorry was thinking of adsense. But as long as it says "set" on your affiliates page you're good to go. Just remember, you need to put "www.hubpages.com" as your web siite - HP will automatically insert YOUR tracking code in pages that you have ONLY. It can take up to 24 hours to start showing results.
Rafini - eBay, Amazon, Adsense, Analytics - they're all the same, as soon as you see something about pasting HTML code or javascript into your website, you know you have to ignore it. HubPages is not your website and you can't access the area they're talking about.
Just follow HubPages' instructions for setting up your account and paste your ID into your affiliates page.
You can't paste any other code in anywhere and you can't check any other code anywhere.

I am not very intelligent when it comes to traffic stats, so sue me..lolWhy is Google Analytics stats more than the HP stats for the same period? Before you assume that Google logs my visits to my hubs, let me clarify that I have hardly been visiting my own hubs. I have an excess of 400+ visitors...

Hi, I'm sorry if this has already been asked, but I feel like I'm going cross-eyed from combing through the official help pages on Google and the forums here.I'm a newbie to Analytics and I think I've figured out the Bounce Rate stuff and all that, but what I'm wondering is, is there a way to see...

I don't understand something.If the average time people spend on an article is 4.5 minutes, how can the bounce rate be 90%? Doesn't 'bounce' mean that they just go on the site for a split second and then go off?

I am not sure if there is anything I can do to get better traction on Safari. Does anyone know? Some of you are probably a lot more technological than I am. Thanks, (It may be that I can't do anything, but I am curious.)

I have several hubs for which Google Analytics reports "Avg Time on Page" as 00:00:00. But in HP stats, those same articles show 5 stars for View Duration. The figures for page views seem to track between GA and HP.Anybody have an idea about the view duration discrepancy?
