he will be missed, his counter points and civil discussion kept us more honest. regardless weather you liked him or not. He was a good opponent for discussions. He made you think.

    From AP
Farewell friends and enemies alike :-

    I leave you all
    Religions hissing vipers heads
    a mirror
The beggars ball of drooling right wing fools
    a bat
The simple fool a simple dunces hat

To be or not to be, ah, that was the question
tis nobler that I retire this fight
I will still rage, rage, against the dying of the light
    good night.

So - about AP, you didn't like him much then ?  I thought he had a nice line in irony and originality going myself big_smile

Just chillin' really.  We have had a hectic week and poor old Sukie is working all day so I am on my own.  I seem to have gained some more work so my 5 year holiday feels like it is over and I have to get on and do some stuff soon.

You enjoy that wine and dinner and I am there in spirit big_smile

I have been wound into the travel industry - so if you or anyone wants to come visit good ole China I can arrange that as well now smile

Nice warm day here, so sitting at this glass fronted box half naked - don't look !

Promotion for the best Company operating in China at the moment. If your local travel agent mentions me then you are in the right place for the best China experience, second to directly visiting me of course big_smile

My main work here is teaching and that is a 16 hour week, hardly enough to register on the work-ometer after a lifetime of 14 hour days and seven day weeks in busienss.

I still like that 16 hour a week thing tho!  if you can afford it, why not.....i'd probably have a hard time with the 16 hours some weeks.

The teaching is pretty easy if you catch oral English, no stretch unless you make it hard.    The pay is in the middle class range here - so it is much more than enough to live on and travel in the 3 month holidays.

I am getting more serious about things because we plan to get married soon!  a kind of kick start back to reality smile

What is the charity about that you 'head up' ?

...i work with really low income families (not just poverty - lots of dysfunction) and mental health and addictions....and as you know poverty in N.A .terms.

thinking about making a change though within the year...i'm an accountant by profession...maybe I'll dive into gov't or private sector....i do like the charitable sector however...just need a change....my job takes me into politics which I like...advocating for changes relevant to the mandate of the org I work for - the people that access the services...i'd miss talking to elected gov't officials etc....if i went into the gov't or private sector...wouldn't be able to do it anymore.

So, when are you getting married?

If you're really serious about teaching you make the effort to build your skills and always improve. Doesn't have to be 'difficult' like a chore, but if you're not challenging yourself something is wrong.

china manposted 14 years agoin reply to this

Just get married in China is a complex business!  Here the family is strong and I get all of them along with the girl.  This is both good and bad from my perspective, good because they are lovely and take you in big style.  Bad because they operate as a unit and I am only one of a group, good for my soul maybe - but hard when I have been boss all my life big_smile

AP is only gone from the forums - and don't worry, china man loves you just the same big_smile

No - I have quit running - I have totally submitted to my new lot in life, being dominated half way around the world by a girl half my age, half my size (exactly) and a heart bigger than I could ever imagine.

Added to that she is prettier than any centrefold ever was and I am definately hooked for life   big_smile

The family is part of the package - and to be honest I welcome the idea of having a 'family' here in China, balances nicely withthe 'family' in the UK.

At an Interpretation school - out of all the fantastic English speakers she was the only one who also understood what the words really mean. For second language speakers irony, wit and inference are really difficult; she attracted my attention with her looks and attracted my mind when she was the only one there who fell about laughing at my jokes big_smile

I am relly lucky that she has such an advanced sense of humour as you would realise if you saw me big_smile  She says that she loves me because I am a bargain - so big and so cheap !

Joy56posted 14 years agoin reply to this

Not if someone thinks girls in centrefold are beautiful.  I never look at girls in centrefold, and apparantly cant understand beauty as men see beauty.   i cannot understand why you are being bitchy about the whole thing though, it is not nice at all

                  1. Sab Oh profile image57
Sab Ohposted 14 years agoin reply to this

But a "centerfold" is not exactly an example of something of the 'virtuous' beauty type, you know? People look at centerfolds for lurid pleasure but certainly not with admiration or respect. It would be like boasting that one's partner is better at sex than a whore. Well, whores are probably good at sex but that is certainly no compliment. Centerfolds are people who reveal themselves for money. I'm pretty sure most would not appreciate the comparison or the cheap objectification it carries.

Comparison with a model or a film star I could understand, but "centerfold" just seems creepy and disrespectful (I would also say that bringing up the body of someone that one supposedly loves, in such an inappropriately personal and objectifying way is inherently inappropriate, but...).

                2. ceciliabeltran profile image68
ceciliabeltranposted 14 years agoin reply to this

A little bit, like the bench mark is a playboy centerfold.

So either that is a compliment or a degradation.

But then, many boys fall in love with their first centerfold, so it may be an actual honor to be called such.

I personally would rather be compared to an angel, a supermodel, a movie star or a goddess...but centerfold is too much like the song of FLight of the conchords:

                  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lmDTSQtK … r_embedded

no offense but yeah...definitely strange description.

But your descriptions are so 'old hat' and a little prudish if you don't mind me saying so.  Women may not like it so much but then not many bear comparison I suppose.  Most normal people have shed their inhibitions about these things much the same as the attitude to the nudes that the old masters were so fond of.

It is conventional behaviour to compare a girls beauty with something - wouldl you prefer I compare her to a summers day ?  a little old hat don't you think in this  modern enlightened age.

...bribery might work!....and guess it's good for Sukie to get a look at things from another angle.....

...the dysfunction is generational many times....kids that were placed in foster homes...now adults/teens raising children...not all of them have risen above what life dealt them as kids...it's tough for some...they just never were given a break or never found the courage to rise above their environment...and became a product of it...that's just one example btw.....it's amazing what some people have experienced and how they struggle and some rise above and fly......

...some would consider my take on things as 'leant leaning' - remember him lol ....but...there are some people that just need a hand up....we're not all strong, or smart or whatever....big_smile
