What's the deal with photo copyrights?

How do I find out which photos are copyrighted and which aren't? What do you do if there's a very specific photo you want to use, but it's copyrighted?

Any information on this topic would be greatly appreciated!

Please do a search of the forums, this question comes up at least twice a week.

If there is a work that is copyrighted you must get permission from the photographer if you want to use it, or buy it.

You're right - should've done that first. Thanks!

There are several public domain image sites out there, and many professional photographers will let you use an image for free if you link back to them as the source.

Yup.  This is what I do.  I always provide a link back to where I found a specific image.  If I don't, then I was the photographer myself wink
