I would like the ability to disable comments on older Hubs. But right now, the only way is to remove the comment module from the Hub. This also removes the existing comments.
Ability to disable new comments without removing existing comments would be a good feature to add. Wordpress has this feature.
I wrote about how when Hub increases, comment moderation does not scale: http://hubpages.com/t/221856
One way around the fact that we get too much comments is to disable comment on older hub and enable comments only for newly publish Hubs.
That is why Wordpress also the feature where there is an option to automatically disable comments on article older than 14 days. Although this automatic feature is not absolutely needed here, the feature for a Hubber to manually go in and disable new comments for each individual Hub would be sufficient.
You can do it even now, edit the hub and see the options given in comments capsule. There's a new option that does exactly what you look for.
Oh yeah. You are right. The feature is there. I must have missed it earlier. Thanks.

I hope Robin will come by and comment on this one. I have been going through all of my old comments and deleting any that don't add anything to the conversation, but some of my hubs have a ton of very useful and informative comments. I don't want to throw the baby out with the bathwater. What makes...

If you deny someone's comment does it hurt their hubber score? Does it hurt you own hubber score if you deny the comments of others? Does it hurt the hub score if the hub has a denied comment?

Are they all over the comments in your hubs? Are you deleting them? I had one in a link I had and how can you correct those? It is like correcting a quote isn't it? What is this all about? We can't stop it can we?

Is it ever justified to delete reader comments?Do you ever delete comments on your Hubpages? Sometimes we get inappropriate or over promoting comments on our hubs, how do you handle the situation?

Do you agree or disagree with the new suggestions for deleting and editing comments? Why or Why not?So now it turns out that we should have been deleting comments all along! Google drops our page rank because of bad comments - comments that do not ADD to the hub, Q&A, or Forum posts. Will...
