Where do hubbers get pictures they put on their hubs? It's supposed to be their own right? But there are some whose pictures are definitely not theirs. Can we simply cite the URL of the source?
There you go, lots of free pictures:

The pictures in most of these places have watermarks, I am increasing faced with a problem of finding a picture that is suitable, for commercial reuse and not watermarked do you have any suggestions.
Thank you for the links. However, just like what sofs said, these have watermarks. Based on the new flagging reasons (http://hubpages.com/forum/topic/72331), this is not acceptable.
There are free pic sites out there. However, as a safety precaution I tend to use my own pictures. They are not as pretty but at least they are mine.
Thanks for the unput. pedrog gave me a list of sites with free photos to use. But I agree, to be safe, use your own pix. unfortunately I don't have much to begin with.
I'm the same way, I always try to take my own pictures. I think it makes the content much more original. Most cell phone's even have cameras with pretty good quality these days to.
You can use photos which the permission of the copyright owner of the photos. Then you need to give photo credit in the manner demanded by the title owner. Else, it might amount to copyright infringement.
That isnt greatly helpful .. we know this information the question was those sites which we had used earlier to get our pictures from have water marked pictures so were do we find the pics that comply is the real question.
Thanks sofs for clarifying my concern. I'm currently searching for sites without watermarks. I came across www.freedigitalphotos.net a while back, but I have to put a link on my hub to use it.
Thanks Jpcmc I use this site .. but you know it is kind of limiting to work with just a few pictures and compromising on quality... just keep us posted if you find something else worthwhile
One site that is free that is really good is http://photobucket.com/
Susan one of the Pictures I used from Photobucket caused a little tremor, I would be careful to use any pictures from them.. I don't know if my experience was uniques but I have heard a couple of others say so in the forums.
Oh I did not know this. Thanks for the heads up.
I get most of mine from here http://sxc.hu/ or from Wikipedia...although you have to make sure the one of Wikipedia is actually copyright free.
That is what I used to bank on but of late all the pictures there are water marked.. is there a way out ?
If you pick the free ones they shouldn't be watermarked. There are some paid pictures on the site.
The choices are so limited it took me ever so long to find two appropriate photos
Thank you

Could one of the HubPages team confirm the official position re watermarked pictures? I know the rules say "prominent" watermarks are not allowed, but I can also understand the desire of Hubber photographers to protect their photos. What's the definition of "prominent"? Is...

When our hubs were once chosen, we had a way to see what was supposed to be fixed before it appeared on a niche site. Now I don't see anything like that. It could be me, but there was a way to see what they wanted added or deleted. It's very frustrating. Yesterday I was told my hub on Zeus, the...

Are we allowed to have watermarked pictures in our hubs?I'm confused. When I look at what makes a hub featured, it clearly states, legally obtained, no watermarks. In addition, when I made my own eternal on some of my personal photos, I was told I couldn't use them. Do why do I see hubs with...

Help! I woke up this morning to find that one of my mid-range performing hubs, "What is Creation, by Definition?" (http://lauraschneider.hubpages.com/hub/What-is-creation) had plummeted to a score of 55. It was 74 on Sept. 8th, 2013, and I know it is a well-written article with 3...

I'm aware that many people who have take their own photos and added them to hubs have been unhappy about the "No watermarks" rule on Hubpages. There is a simple way around this - that should both protect your content, increase your traffic and not break the rules.Create a MADE FOR...
