What Do People Write About And Why?

Updated on October 21, 2011

What do people write about and Why?

I wanted to express some of my thoughts about hub writing. For one, I've noticed some people write about things that will sell like shoes, fashion, gadgets, etc. And some people write about everything. There are niches, which are when you specialize in one or a few topics. And there's people like myself who write about their experience, or how they feel.

MOTIVES FOR WRITING

I write how I feel or what I know. I like to vent and I like to share, hoping this will help others also. Writing about whatever I want is more fun and easy to me. I also think that it comes natural and that is a good thing I think.

MAKING MONEY WITH WRITING

Some say certain topics may not bring in money, but then if you write on many subjects, you may bring in some people with poetry for example and then they see your OTHER WORK!!! So, I suppose there are many angles to it all, but shouldn't it be somewhat fun? Yes.

SO WHAT TO DO?

Well, Do what you want, meaning, write about what you want and then back link and use the keyword tool. If you want to focus on making money online, I suggest you either:

  1. Go all the way--write only about things that you feel will make you money
  2. Do both--write about what you love AND write a number of hubs on what you think will sell

TABOO TOPICS?

What topics are taboo? Well, we know obviously inappropriate topics are. But what about if we write about depression or things maybe the majority will not be interested in reading maybe because they have no interest or it's sad reading.

Well, you may also say, that reading about gadgets and food could get boring. I mean, sometimes I think we need a philosophical, spiritual, or reality reading don't you think? I believe we are deep and long for these reads but also need humor and light hearted reading as well.

So, that being said, I really hope my own variety of topics will intrigue people and draw them in to occassionally read my "other" topics!!!

Thankyou very much for reading this.

Please comment below and if you found this interesting or helpful, vote up or rate!!!!

THANKS!!!

      You're doing well already with what you have written so keep going. Write what you know and there is nothing wrong with a good ole rant every now and then.

      @Shopping-Online

      Wow! Your sis in law made more money here than at the Bank? That is really great. Thankyou for stopping by, I'll check you out!

      I agree with you. My motivation was my sis-in-law who have made more money and recognition here than her entire career with the Bank. I am not a writer but I try sharing my experience or knowledge of my likings, hobbies or passions through my hubs.

      Writing to one's strength of knowledge will help produce quality writing for the reader.

      @Mike

      Thank you ever so much for your thoughtful comment. You are the best!

      I feel I am finding my voice too which is a blessing in writing and even more a blessing when others like it.

      Thankyou!

      I have commented on this before in another hub, but I am enjoying your work and feel you are finding your true "voice." I firmly believe we have to write for ourselves first. What about the people who are writing ad copy to sell Amazon products? Well, they are writing for themselves, also. They are doing what they love, and they are quite passionate about it.

      It is great to see you explore your thoughts and feelings on a wide variety of issues. That is when you have written your best work, and I thank you very much for sharing it.

      Mike
