Bullying in Today's Times

Updated on December 10, 2013

Through out the recent years Bullying has become an issue. People have been doing things to stop it and they came somewhat of a way but it now increased to Cyber bullying. Bullying on the internet.

Bullying has many effects. Kids who grow up being bullied in high school end up with emotional scars. They go through life with a feeling that they are not good enough. If they don't chose their friends wisely they will develop worse self-esteem.

If you see someone getting bullied stand up instead of watching someone get hurt. Life is too short to go through life upset and hurt.

If you are doing the bullying then stop. It is not funny to see someone getting hurt. Bullying someone has severe consequences.

Try to take a stand against bullying and try to make friends with someone who is bullied. Take them under your wring and help them. If you are the one bullied don't fear you are a great person and you will get out of this.

Were you ever bullied before?

Has anyone read about Sylvia Likens or Shanda Sharer? Perhaps you were alive and old enough to remember these cases of bullying and abuse. Sylvia Likens was abused and tortured to death in the 1960's by her care giver Gertrude Baniszewski and her children as well as some of the children in the neighborhood. She died October 26, 1965 at the age of 16 years. Shanda Sharer was abducted, tortured and burned alive by 16 year old Melinda Loveless and a few of her teenage minions. Shanda was only 12 years old when she died on January 11, 1992. The reason? Because Melinda was jealous that her ex girlfriend had a romantic interest in Shanda. At least now more and more people are taking notice and not looking the other way. That was especially the case with Sylvia. So many adults didn't want to get involved despite what they saw and heard.

Unfortunately, bullying has become popular nowadays. Being a mother, I have witnessed the cases myself. Luckily, my kid hasn't faced the problem yet. to tell the truth, I don't know how I would react to the problem, but I'm sure that things like that should not be underestimated, because they affect the psychological and emotional condition of a kid and may seriously hurt your son or daughter. So, parents have to trace their kids' mood and behaviour to be able to point out any frightening changes.
