Education and Love

Drawing Out or Pouring In?

The word education is derived from the Latin verb “educare” which means “to draw out”. Why is the process that goes on in our schools today described by a word that implies the exact opposite?

How can pouring facts and figures into the brains of children be described as drawing forth anything from those same children?

Learning and perception

Somehow, somewhere along the line society decided that in order to educate a child we must tell them what to think.

Children are required to remember the perceptions of people whom society has deemed important. The level of our children’s education is then measured by their proficiency in regurgitating these perceptions.

I use the word perception here and not knowledge because knowledge is something that does not change and is independent of the observer. Perception depends on the observer and is in a state of constant change.

Looking for meaning in the meaningless

The laws of science that we were required to learn as children no longer hold true today and the laws of science our children are learning today will not hold true for their children. The reason for this is that our senses only allow us to perceive the world we live in. The people and objects we say we see are in fact images we create in our brains. It is these images that we make up in our minds that we project onto the world and call it reality.

There are people in the world today who realise the truth and their numbers are increasing. These people like all the wise people from generation to generation looked within for truth and these are the truly educated ones. They drew from within themselves the truth that escapes those whose minds are enslaved by the books they have read. It is not possible to draw goodness and nourishment from food that someone else has chewed for you.

Truth and Illusion

In this world of perceptions it is not knowledge that is the priority but ego. As long as we continue to feed the ego by subscribing to its delusional belief system we remain a slave to what we believe is true at the expense of experiencing truth. Truth cannot be known nor can it be described or explained. Truth lies beyond the realm of the intellect but can be experienced through love.

There is only one truth accessible to us and that is love. It is through love and service that we can correct our perceptions and heal the split mind. It is the split mind that creates all the conflict we see in the world. The ego cannot survive in an environment of unconditional love. Love dispels ego the way light dispels darkness.

Upside-down priorities

It is not facts from books that our children need but love.

It is not material possessions that our children need but love.

We all need love and when we realise this simple truth everything else is meaningless.

We have brainwashed ourselves and our children to value power and material possessions above all else and it is by those false milestones that they gauge their self worth.

Love all, serve all.

God did not create the world as the ego would have us believe. God is love and God waits for us to realise the separation we imagine between us and Him is an illusion.

The world is a creation of the ego and like all our beliefs it has become our reality. But within each one of us is the flame that has always been there like a candle in the window waiting for us to return home.

By loving and serving all we are refusing to buy into the ego's false claims and distractions and our perception will be corrected. Once we perceive ourselves and the world correctly then love will take us those final steps across the bridge we imagine separates us from the divine.
