Endangered Sea Animals

Updated on October 22, 2011

Sad but true, that we humans are the biggest enemies of the nature that surrounds us. We with our actions are destroying the mother earth. It is because of us that many of the other living things on earth are in danger of extinction.

Species of many of the valuable plants and animals are dying out every year and we are responsible for it.  Oceans and seas which include a whole different world of creatures are not safe habitats any more as the animals living there are too being subjected to human cruelty.

Many of marine creatures are now on the verge of extinction because they have been hunted by man for their selfish purposes.

Following is the list of such precious endangered marine animals:

Blue Whale

The blue whale is the largest mammal on earth. But unfortunately they are going to dye out soon. The blue whales despite of their large size are extremely swift swimmers and have a large heart.  The blue whale is hunted by man due to the special fat it contains known as the “blabber”.

The blabber is unique fat that is only found in whales only and are used in the making of man made products such as chap sticks, lipgloss and perfumes etc. Imagine, the chapstick that you apply daily on your lips involves a murder of an innocent animal for its making!  Due to this massive hunting of blue whales, their population is going through a rapid decline.

Sea Otter

The sea otter is one of the most endangered animal specie of the world. It has very few species left on earth.

In past they were hunted by the local fishermen because they fed on other fish. Oil spills are another reason for their extinction, but the reason why they have almost come to the point of extinction is that they have been excessively hunted down for their fur.

The Humpback Whale

The humpback whale is an innocent loving mammal that lives peacefully underwater. These slow moving animals have a very friendly nature and show warmth towards human instead of getting scared or to attack them.

But this naïve nature of these whales has proven to be unlucky for them as they are the most easily hunted animals. For centuries they have been hunted by man.

In old times they were hunted for their meat and fat. Their excessive hunting due the fact that they can be easily hunted is the reason for them being endangered.

Manatee

The manatees are slow moving harmless sea creatures. They lead a peaceful life and feed on small fish. The reason for their extinction is also massive hunting by man. For centuries they have been hunted specially for their meat.

In old times the Native Americans, believed that the skin of the manatees contains some special healing power, therefore they were excessively hunted down by them.  In recent times they were hunted down for their skin.

Other than hunting, the manatees also died out due to the increase in sea and marine pollution by man.

The Harp Seal

The harp seal is an extremely endangered animal. These seals are hunted because of many reasons.

Mostly they are hunted for their thick flesh and their fat which is used in many man made products.

The Sperm Whale

The sperm whale is another endangered marine mammal. It is an extremely smart whale and is believed to have the largest brain of all the animals.

Their brain size is 12 times more than the size of the human they are very deep divers of the sea. They are also famous for their sharp hearing ability underwater.

The sperm whale, liker other whales is hunted by man for the purpose of obtaining their fats which are used in the making of many man made products.

Steps Being Taken To Save The Endangered Sea Animals

The world is not such a bad place after all. The humans that are responsible for the decline of the population of these animals are also their saviors.

Many countries have passed laws that prohibit the hunting of the marine animals.

Many marine aquariums are being built in which these animals are kept under safe conditions and their population is being preserved.

I say we should protect the sea creatures. Because they are all harmless. Well, do fish or sharks hunt for us??? Of course not, so why should we hunt for them?? We should not be afraid OF sharks but FOR sharks. That's my opinion!

The harp seal is not an endangered species, here is proof http://www.iucnredlist.org/apps/redlist/details/41...

Copy and paste it, this is a real website that shows if the animal is endangered or not

I have written an article about how whales and turtles evolved. It is a shame that now these wonders of nature are endangered by us. Would you mind if I linked to this hub in my hub?

As a matter of fact, the UN states that cow farts are a greater cause of pollution than all the SUV's. They said going vegetarian would result in less CO2 in the atmosphere than replacing the fossil fueled cars.

Global warming could be hoax, because history says that world goes through a period of climatic change after some period of time. Just like the ice age was natural, global warming could be too!

But one thing is certain, that humans are the root cause of pollution and intoxication of environment. Many of the pollutants even reach the north poles effecting the antarctic creatures.

Fresh water bodies are affected too! Extinction is caused when the natural habitat of animals, is disturbed. This process happens naturally, but we humans are some what speeding up this process.

sorry Peaceful, but where have you been? The Global Warming Hoax was exposed last fall. CO2 is a naturally occurring byproduct of photosynthesis and breathing.

The scientists know that cooling SO2 is prevalent enough in the environment to neutralize the warming effects of CO2.

Besides that polar bears can swim 60 miles.

When the arctic ice sheets melts due to global warming, polar bears will no longer have their ice environment and will become endangered as well. And human activity is significantly contributing to the global warming.

yes, I agree. However, we know that eugenicist Prince Philip created the World Wildlife Foundation with the distinct purpose to cull the population and eliminate millions, if not billions of people.

Global warming and Al Gore were funded by the Prince. It is an evil scheme to eliminate people.

Prince Philip was quoted as saying: "if there is reincarnation, I want to come back as a virus to clean the population of undesirables."

Well it's true that every living thing has a soul in it, and the life its gets in this world is only temporary, no one knows what destiny awaits a soul!

Extinction is something inevitable, but we can still try and preserve these species, however, what ever life form exists in this planet, nothing is superior to mankind. But its upon us to also respect other lesser life forms too!

within each animal, there is an eternal soul, even vegetables, amoeba, whales. Therefore, if the external form changes, the should will take birth in a new form. As you know, according to a soul's karma, or God's design, the soul will take a new birth

      , somewhere in the Universe.

Not that I don't respect life. However, in this country, they put the extinction of a small fish over the right of farmers to grow their crops and maintain their families (San Joaquim Valley farmers)

So, I think that we have to look at things in perspective.
