Ancient Visitors

Have we been visited by Aliens. This is a question that has been asked over and over again.

There are stories, going back thousands of years, about alien visits. I am sure you have heard of the connections made between the ancient Eygptions and Aliens. Also those of the Maya. We have seen artifacts, from both Eygpt and the Columbia, Ecuador region, that look like flying machines. Engineers even made exact models of these, to discover that they actually are aeronautically sound and could fly.

Erich von Daniken writes in his book Chariots of the Gods, that in the Old Testament of the Bible, Book of Ezekiel, there is a possible discription of a spaceship landing and aliens stepping out.

Flying machines are also often mentioned in Hindu scripts.

Here, however, I would like to look at a couple of less famous clues to the question. Firstly I would like to mention the Dogon people of Mali, Africa, south of Nigeria. These people believe that in their past, their ancestors were paid a visit by an alien being. This alien was half man and half fish and liked to stay not too far from water. He explained to them, that he came from a watery planet in the Sirius System. He also is supposed to of told them that his planet had three suns. These stories have been shunned by sceptics, who say they could of heard such things from an earlier visit by europeans.

My problem with this is, that although astronomers have, for many years thought Sirius to be a binary star system, it is only recently, with far better telescopes, that they have discovered that Sirius is a Tri star system. How did the Dogon know this before our astronomers.

Secondly, I would like to mention the ancient Sumerian people. From ancient Sumerian texts translated by Zecharia Sitchin, The Sumerians believed that their Gods, the Annunaki, were from a planet called Nibiru. The Annunaki told of their planet being in our solar system but unlike other planets in the system it has an elliptical orbit and moves clockwise instead of anti clockwise. They said that because of its elliptical orbit, it took 3600years to orbit the sun. They said that on one of its previous orbits it had collided with and destroyed another planet that had been in our solar system, that planet now made up the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter.

The last time Nibiru passed through our solar system it is supposed to of been the cause of the great flood of Noah fame.

Scientists say that there is no proof that the the asteroid belt was caused by the destruction of a planet. My problem here is, how did the Sumerians know of the asteroid belt.

This could all be proved true or false soon, as it has been estimated that Nibiru, if it exists, will pass through the orbits of Earth and Mars in 2013. [Too close to 21 Dec.2012 for my liking].

These are just a sample of the stories that span our planet, from Japan, India, The Middle East, Africa, South America and lets not forget Easter Island.

Most of these stories are believed to be merely myths and some have been proven to be just that. However, there are that many stories and it would only need for one to be based on fact, for it to mean that we have been visited by aliens at some time. I therefore believe that the answer to the question is yes, we have been visited by aliens.

CW - Much of the Bible is circumstantial too, I keep an open mind on that also.

Erich von Daniken is quite a character. I have read Chariots of the Gods and the Eyes of the Sphinx. He does a decent job at presenting a lot of compelling evidence to suggest that we have been visited. I am still not totally convinced though. To me, the evidence is only really circumstantial. Still, the idea of being visited is very intriguing and it offers an easy explanation of many things. I am open to the prospect of this. Another great hub.

The absolute TRUTH will be revealed to us in due time. We are given enough thinking and clear minds to understand those phenomena. FAITH is intangible; myths, they say are half-truths or fallacies.

Little by little are questions are being answered, from the BIBLE and the burgeoning facts that bestowed upon us these days, through discoveries and more.

      Thanks for sharing, rafken!!!

Is that book you talk about, called The Bible by any chance. They are the same thing, interpretations or mis interpretations, passed down through the ages. No proof of the Bible, no proof of aliens.

really interesting but you still don't have me completely convinced that aliens have visited our planet. Also, maybe the things that you heard and talked about weren't the exact things that the actual people said. It could have been one of those bull statements that have weird interpretations. There's a whole book of them, like someone said that a bird will knock down 2 trees or something a few hundred years ago and people think he was predicting 9/11

I thinks what melpor is looking for is the word "faith". Things and events are taken on faith. So no matter what argument you present "faith" overcomes it. I hate to use that word in this context since I believe 'a priori' that life exists other than on this planet or even other than this dimension on the same plane. So that is my "faith". Good thoughts and reactions, love it thanks, Peter

melpor Time is relevant. What one thousand years is to us, may only be a couple of weeks to another life form. Do not let yourself get too implanted with humans limitations

Rafken, A lot of art work can be clearly done at ground level without the need to see it from a bird's eye view. The fact is no alien life forms have visited this planet in the past. The Roswell incident is a good example of a simple incident blown completely out of proportion because people believe what they want to believe in no matter how absurd it sound or people refuse to let go of silly stories. Aliens would be everywhere in this world by now if they had visited earth for hundreds or even thousands of years. The nearest habitable planets are thousands of light years away and even if they have the technology to travel near or at the speed of light they would be still traveling in this direction to get here.

melpor. I don't think I mentioned the Nasca lines in peru because, as you say, they have been proven that they could have been made by humans. However they can only truly be seen from the air, which means they believed some one could fly.

Rafken, aliens have never visited this planet simply because there are none. The interpretations of a lot ancient images are generally wrong and many people just refused to let go of old interpretations. For example, the drawings in the Nicas plains in South American were made by the people who were indigenous to that region centuries ago. For a long time many people including some scientists believed these lines were made by extraterrestrial visitors until a group of scientists took a closer look. Think about it, I think by now just about most people on earth would have met them by now. It would be the greatest world news ever broadcasted.

So what does it mean to us if Sirius is a Tri-star system? And your point here; "how did the Sumerians know of the asteroid belt." was well mentioned! You bring up a really valid point, which is how did they know? I believe in ancient aliens. Why? Because of unanswerable questions such as that one....... Fun hub!!!

PS> By the way that sentence needs a question mark at the end of it instead of a period.

We may be the only ones but there are so many planets out there that it unlikely. We are a relatively new Galaxy, Star and planet which means that any other civilizations out there are probably older than ours. It does not necessarily mean they are more advanced. Our dinosaurs lived 65 million years, theirs may last 120 million tears.
