Human Trafficking in United States of America
Introduction
It is true that slavery has been banned in the world long time ago, but something of that nature still exists silently in United States. There is high human trafficking in United States including child trafficking and women prostitution in general.
Men and women in United States adopt children when they were young just to train them to work as sex workers when they come of age. The question is: is this man inhumanity to man or a way of life and making money? Young ladies who would have contributed positively to the growth of the economy of United States are now used as “animals” that men use to satisfy their desires. Could this be the end-time sign or just what modernization has brought to the country referred to as the World Power?
Before going further on this topic, what is human trafficking? Human trafficking is the trade in humans, most commonly for the purpose of sexual slavery, forced labour or commercial sexual exploitation for the trafficker or others;or for the extraction of organs or tissues, including surrogacy and ova removal; or for providing a spouse in the context of forced marriage. The legal definition of human trafficking under US federal law is: the recruitment, harbouring, transportation, provision, or obtaining of a person for labour or services through the use of force, fraud, or coercion for the purpose of subjection to involuntary servitude, peonage, debt bondage or slavery.
Is the government of United States of America making good effort to see that human trafficking in United States of America is reduced or if possible stopped completely or do they support such dirty business? Human trafficking in the country will be put to an end if only the government wants to fight that with all sincerity.
There are many women in United States that have testified how they got their freedom from human trafficking, and also others who have narrated their story on how they got into slavery in the hand of a wealthy man in U.S. These are beautiful women that would have made good and better homes if not because of the condition they were subjected to. Example of such women is Jennifer Kempton who gave her story on how a man trained her just to sleep around with other men and make money for him. In one of her statements concerning what she encountered, she said “I was branded like cattle”. She stated that men used her body for all sorts of nonsense. Some tattooed on her body after having some time with her even to the innermost part as she said. According to Jenifer, she said that the pimp tattooed his name on her body added with statement which illustrates that she was owned by him and she is to be used just for making money. This is evidence that there is high moral decline in United States.
So many African mothers have been deceived and have their female children taken away from them to United States of America without knowing that their children are used as slaves in the country. This is common in Nigeria, Ghana, and in other African countries. The mothers may be happy that their daughters are in United States without knowing the kind of jobs they do in the country.
There are causes and effects of human trafficking all over the world. Some who indulge in child trafficking may do it because they are in need of money while others have their reasons for such practice. The world is decaying as child trafficking is a wicked and criminal act.
Prostitution as an Arm of Human Trafficking in U.S
The future of United States of America is likely to be chaotic if the rate at which prostitution in the country is practiced continues to be of increase. The prostitutes are seen in major streets and hotels in the country. The pimps who sent them out have full control of them and make money out of them.
Prostitution in United States is a product of human trafficking and it affects the health standard of the country. Take for instance that a prostitute is infected with disease which can be transmitted to any man that sleeps with her. Unknowing, a man enters and decided to “put something” into the young prostitute and thought that he had really enjoyed for the day without knowing that he has contracted the disease the young woman was suffering. This becomes how the man will continue to spread the disease and the health standard of the country will continue to depreciate.
Child Trafficking in United States
Child trafficking is an example or an aspect of human trafficking. Some heartless men and women that live in the country find joy in kidnapping the children that was given birth by another parents for the sake of money. The children when sold to another man/woman can be used for anything the owner wants. Child trafficking in the country is another modernized form of slavery.
Facts and figure has shown that a lot of children miss in United States on yearly basis. The question is: where are these children taken to and what kind of treatment will they be receiving from their perpetrators? According to the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children, roughly 800,000 (eight hundred thousand) children are reported missing each year in United States.
There are many causes of child trafficking. Among the causes are carelessness of parents, love for money, moral decline among citizens of the country, dead conscience, and lack of trust. These and many more are causes of child missing and trafficking in United States of America.
The effects of child trafficking on the victimized are severe to the extent that if some of them are given the opportunity to the kill the one that betrayed them, they can do that. Among the effects of child trafficking are psychological trauma, poor educational background, physical dryness, low self-esteemed, exposition to health issues, depression, and child rape.
Causes of Human Trafficking
There are a number of factors that causes human trafficking and among them are:
- Love for Money;
- Illiteracy;
- Decline in moral practice;
- Poor parental care; and
- Untrustworthy
Love for Money
Some people are willing to kill innocent souls just because they love money so much. This is one of the major causes of human trafficking all over the world. Men buy young girls with money and train them just to be “fingered” and used for anything by other men that need the services of the young ladies. They do not care to know that what they are doing to the young ladies is man inhumanity to man but all they care is to collect money from the clients (the men) that sleep with the women. Because of lack of trust, men have betrayed women who they called their wives for prostitution-trafficking.
Illiteracy
Some Africans who were sold to Europe and North-America were because the parents that handed them over were illiterates. They have no access to information to know what their children who were taken to United States and Europe in general are likely to be doing over there. Instead, they are happy that their children are in developed countries. For literates that have access to information, they understand about human trafficking in United States and cannot just leave their women and men to just be taken to any country without them knowing what they are really going there to do.
Decline in Moral Practice
There is serious moral decline in United States. It is because of moral decay in the country that make it possible for human trafficking to be practiced at ease and many Americans see it as a way of life and that nothing is wrong with it. Men go into hotels in United States and demand for any young and beautiful women they want to sleep with who were trafficked for sex for satisfaction of their desires. When they do this, they patronize the perpetrators which in return encourage human trafficking in the country. Moral decline in the country is one of the Challenges in United States.
Poor Parental Care
Some parents are too careless to take very good care of the children they have. As a result of this, they fall victim of human traffickers from all parts of the world. Some parents in United States of America are much more interested in money they will make rather than showing more care to their children. Because of this, they are easily exposed to kidnappers who adopt them and expose them to child labor.
Untrustworthy
People have been betrayed by their love ones who they think the trust. Their loved ones betrayed them to Pimps who use them to make money. Women have complained and given report on how the people they trusted have betrayed them into prostitution. The wicked people who bought these young women for business went to the extent of writing their names at the sensitive parts of the women’s body to claim ownership of them.
Effects of Human Trafficking
The victims of human trafficking have had some bitter experiences in the dirty business they were forced into. The drug addict and some other things they are forced into have caused negative effects on them. Hence, the negative effects or consequences of human trafficking are:
- Depression;
- Low self-esteem or Inferiority;
- Disease spread; and
- Psychological Trauma.
Solutions to Human Trafficking
Proper Law Enforcement
Reinforcement and implementations of the Law against human trafficking is a good way through which human trafficking will be reduced. The Law should be reinforced by setting up a group that will fetch out the pimps and treat them according to the Law of the country.
Treating the Perpetrators Harshly
The mild treatments given to people that indulge in human trafficking is why others continue to modernize slavery. When offenders of the Law are treated harshly due to human trafficking for child labor or prostitution, others will learn and people who are planning to feature in the business will withdraw their plans.
Advancement in good life and moral practice
Due to high moral decline in United States, people are seriously advancing in human trafficking. Teaching morals in schools, market places and anywhere where the large number of the citizens will be encountered is a good channel to minimize trafficking of humans in the country. Awakening the practicing of Christian religion will help hinder the propagation of human trafficking.
Sensitization through Media
Creating awareness through the media will go to some extent in retarding the growth of human trafficking in the country. This should be carried out through online awareness in agreement with Google Adsense. Again is through television and radio stations. Another channel is through social media sites like Facebook and Twitter.
