How A Positive Attitude Can Change Your Life

Updated on March 7, 2013

There are so many things that can happen in someone's life, that it can make it really hard to have a positive outlook in life itself. Life to me, is like a roller coaster with the ups and downs and sharp turns that life brings our way.

Some of us can not deal with these different changes that are thrown our way. We sometimes can not accept or handle changes. We want to always be on a even keel, but as we all know this doesn't always happen, and when there becomes a road block in our life or something we can't handle we start to think negative thoughts.

We say, why is this happening to me or what did I do wrong to deserve this in my life?

In my opinion, this is our test in life to see how much we can really handle. I know that this may sound strange, but we are put through these little test in our lives to make us stronger human beings, to be able to love more and not hate. This of course is my opinion and my experiences.

How a Positive Attitude can change your life forever. If someone, we will say, walks around all the time with just pure negative thoughts, what do you think their life will be or better yet what do you think their.outcome in life will amount to?

My answer would be their life would wind up to be just about nothing. They walk around, down in the dumps and cry why me, but do they try at all to change their situation in their life. Some will try to change and then some will just except life as it is and be miserable forever.

You have to want and dream and go after those dreams and goals in life because it will not come to you. Good things will not just fall into your lap unless of course you were left a huge amount of money in a inheritance or something of that nature, but how often does that happen to people in the world?

If you want good for yourself and your family you can't just sit back and wait for something to happen, you have to grab the bull by the horns and go after your dreams and what you want out of your life.

When I was addicted to alcohol for many many years I had nothing but negative thoughts in my life. How can you even have a positive attitude in life when you are high or drunk all the time. The drugs and booze bring you down to a level that you hate your life and think you have no meaning in life to even be on this earth.

That is so sad to me, that an addiction can and will do this to a person, that possibly before their addiction, had a great life and was meaningful, until those rotten demons took over their bodies and minds.

These addictions will bring you from living your dreams and having everything in life to hitting rock bottom with a blink of an eye. That's a huge change in anyone's life. So what happens is that your positive thinking and your positive life you lead all turn to negativity real fast.

I can't say it enough in my writing and speaking to family and friends that the first thing I did when I decided to surrender to my addiction was that I prepared my mind for a journey of a life time. By doing so and starting with my positive attitude, gave me a huge advantage to be able to achieve what I was about to due not only for myself, but my family as well.

If I would have continued to think negative I would have never been able to conquer my addiction, but thinking positive doesn't end there it has to continue forever and ever.

If something gets thrown at you in life that brings you down, and you say "why me?" just stop and think of how you can make this small curve in your life be better. How can I change or fix this? Don't just cry about it and say "why me?" Think positive and try to change the negative thing into to something positive.

Unfortunately, there are somethings in life that we can't change, meaning a incurable disease of someone we love or know or maybe even ourselves, but even so, still Stay Positive about that too because Miracles Do Happen.

How can we not live life positive when there are some many beautiful things out there to take in and just to be able to wake up each and every morning and be alive is truly a gift from above.

Be grateful to Be Alive and don't tarnish your life with negative things. Think Positive and thank God for what he has given each and everyone of us......"LIFE".

Think Positive and make it the Best Day of Your Life!

Oh.. I love reading articles like this. Our mind-set plays such an important part in our day to day life. It's important we keep a positive attitude.

Unlike you I don't have an addiction.I have a fear that I want to overcome. Well, I have many fears which ultimately leads to doubt. I've been a stranger to the bitterness of society practically my whole life. Because of this I can tell you regretfully that I haven't done this thing called living very often. Why? Because of fear. But now I've reached a place in my life where I am begining to let go of the fear not just so I can say that at least once I embraced the unknown, but so I can truly live my life.

I have a long list of fears that perhaps many will say I have thought on too heavily. But doubt too has taken its toll on me as well. When I step outside of the box, I find myself trying to justify my reasoning and questioning my own actions. I never just step out and let go. I let myself be bound by everything. The fear, the doubt, and the burning questions.

But even after all of this, I have come to understand that whether or not we are held back by our fears and doubts is what can make us or break us. I have been afraid to live my life. I have been afraid to stand my ground, afraid to let my voice be heard, afraid to take a chance, and afraid to just let myself go. And, it is the realization of these fears and the act to subdue them that leads us to living.

It is positive thinking that can get me out of my shell. It will allow me to weigh not just the negative outcomes but the positive ones as well. It will help me to take chances. It will help me to greet people with a smile and a warm hello. It will help others see me in a different light. Positive thinking gives us hope for ourselves, and I feel like I've known this all along.

Thanks for the article. It really touched me and made me realize that I do need to live more positively and live with hope.

I am so glad that I got to read this hub today. Today was the day I grabbed the bull by the horns and took control of my destiny. I know it will turn out alright because my heart and my mind are in the right place.

Klarawieck, I am so glad you found it also and since my life was really full of negativity while being addicted to alcohol, things sure changed for me when I surrendered to it and changed my mind set to POSITIVITY in all areas in my life and then is when I could handle my life change to sobriety. I looked at what my life would be if I continued the way I was and then look on the bright side, if I quit drinking how my life would be. The Positive things certainly out weighed the Negative. So, stay positive and have a good out look on life and things will indeed get better for all of us.

Thanks for your kind comment. Means a lot to me.

Positive thinking and a positive attitude are some of the most important factors in our life and success. It has even been proven with cancer patients that a positive attitude equals a higher survival rate.

The way I see it if we surround ourselves with positive energy we will naturally attract positivity in our live but if we concentrate on negativity we will get the opposite.

kentuckyslone, Thank you for stopping by and reading my Hub. I too believe what you said about positive energy and cancer or any illness for that matter. If we try to stay positive and want to get well it certainly helps overcoming the illness along with the medicine as well. If we think we are going to die and jsut give up than that is exactly what will happen.

"Preparing my mind for a journey of a life time" That is perhaps the most beautiful and incredibly strong statement for a person who wants to make a change in his or her life.

Funny how things can happen at just the right time, thank you Mark. Been reading articles you have written tonight. A moment of clarity today, did the math and have been making bad decisions going on 30 years. Started at 13, I love my daughter who lives with me and my family. I'm ready to grow up!
