   Is the control of women at the heart of war?
   
   If we look at just about any war the enslavement and rape of women is immediate mandatory behaviour.
   Currently in the war against Daesh we see stated policy regarding the total enslavement of women. Even sensible real Muslim critics have stated that many men are very sexually oppressed in Muslim society and they would risk death for free sex.
   Oddly "Western" wars have the side effect of reducing the number of young males through mass death on the battlefield thus creating an imbalance between older males and young females (like lions).
   Sex during wars go through tumultuous brutal changes.

   I think what you are saying is wrong.  War's are fought for geo political and monetary gains nothing other than that.  Women unfortunately become victims of men who have become savages resulting from war.

      This is just a question and an observation. It's related to what occurs in the animal kingdom whereby lions have a "war" to gain control of both females and territory.

   War is often fought over resources - water, farmland (food), sources of wealth like mines and timber.
   In the case of water access and farmland, it is perceived survival.
   In wars over coal, oil, timber, it is seen as acceptable to risk some people in order to help all people in the group by gaining control over those things.
   While skirmishes through much of human history were to kidnap brides/sex slaves, today, you don't man an army of a million men with the promise of sex - you frame it as survival of the country, while promoting the heroic ideal that may get them laid but does not guarantee it.

      If we relate it to the animal kingdom we see male lions fighting to control territory that contains prey and breeding female lions. Things such as control of territory and "people" are common to human wars.
