What do you think about The Secret?

I am reading the book. But I'm scared to fully put it to the test. I wrote a hub about it (Check it out) But I still don't know...What do you think?

It's not really a secret.  That information has been around for a long time.  She simply brought it up again.  This is the same idea held by James Allen (As a Man Thinketh), Napoleon Hill (Think and Grow Rich), and more recently than them, Shakti Gawain (Creative Visualization).  I also found Neville Goddard's teachings to be very similar in nature.  So no, this is not a new theory.

More interesting reading in a similar vein is the Celestine Prophecy and the subsequent books by James Redfield.

    Hogwash on stilts--and Oprah-support.
You'll feel inspired while reading it and for about two weeks after, then you'll be back to normal and will realize it doesn't have any effects except making the author rich. It is at worst highly deceitful nonsense designed to appeal to today's audience and at worst unrealistic in the extreme.
    Good luck!

Actually. I would like to disagree with you Arthur. You see even in psychology..(I'm taking applying psychology at college) They say perception is one of the most important parts to study. My instructor said "Lets say you think your going to have a bad day. The outcome will look like your thoughts" If you go into to something not fully having faith in it or thinking bad thoughts, then so it will be. That is also what The Secret teaches, is it not?

I am just like you, saw the movie actually and am fully putting it to the test.  I started this morning so it has been my first full day of sending out positive vibes.  Will the universe hear me?  I'm going to really give this a whirl.  It certainly can't cause any more problems in my life than I may already have haha!

Advisor4qb is right.  This information has been around for ages.  The teachers in the movie point out that the info was deliberately esoteric in order to keep the masses from reaching their full potential.  Another great book that touches on the subject is "The Power of Your Subconcious Mind" by Joseph Murphy.  When applied properly the principles work.
