Merit pay- Yes or No? Why?
Here in New Jersey, our governor is floating a lot of ideas concerning merit pay for teachers. Under the current system of assessing students and schools, I think this is a bad idea. Relying on standardized tests provides easy bits of digestible data, but doesn't provide an accurate picture of student learning. This data should not be the sole measure of our kids or their teachers and schools. What do you think?
