Steve needs to find the product of two numbers.  One of the numbers is 6. The answer also needs...

to be 6. Solve this problem.

well would it not be one? 6x1=product
product is the answer of a multiplication so the correct answer would be one

Well then the product would be 6! This is the answer (product).
The other factor, or missing number as far as I can see would be 1.
    factor  × factor = product
      6       ×      1   =    6

Thanks, Keepitnatural and moderndays - you both are correct!

So what Steve needs to do is find a missing factor. He knows one factor and the product, so we can draw up an equation which looks like:

    __ x 6 = 6.

Now, we know that 1 x 6 = 6, so we can fill up the blank with a 1. So, the answer is 1.
