What rights do I have when a hosp.violated the privacy act? what can I do to correct that error?

I was in a burn unit, the treatments were atrocious, there were scary stories of people jumping off the hosp.roof.The hosp.was more concerned about my private life over asking for my insurance, the gossip about me was horrible, rather than caring for my burns,a student learning to be a Dr.came into my room at 3am and threw cold water on me while I was sleeping. The next morn.I reported her & they laughed & said she must have been drunk. Now I am trying to have slander written about me on doctors public med lines to view be removed, the treatment from other Dr's. have been that of scary pathetic care.

In Australia there is an organisation created under the Privacy Act 1988 called the Office of the Privacy Commissioner to whom one can report breaches of the Privacy Act and then be informed of any legal action (if any) you can take. I'd bed that America (or what ever country you are in) has a similar department to deal with breaches of the Privacy Act.

Also, Doctors, nurses, health-care professionals and hospitals have a duty of care to their patients and are bound by much legislation which determines the quality of care you should receive: if you can prove harm or detriment occurred from any act (or omission of an act) that was done to you, you can file for negligence and receive compensation for damage/punitive damage.
