What is your opinion on Home Schooling?  Should the government have any say how we teach our kids?

it should be up to the parents.  that being said why would anyone want to home school, your tax dollars go to the schools so let them do it, people are very busy with life and jobs and no one really has time to home school.  it robs the kids of friends at school, extra curricular school stuff, and so much more.  it isolates them at home and robs them of so much, I know someone who tried it and it was a disaster and the two girls suffered so much, they are back in school now and once again thriving, big thumbs down for home schooling

I think home schooling can be great if it is done the right way.  I was mostly homeschooled until fifth grade (plus attending a couple of alternative schools here and there) because we moved a lot and then lived too far from town for me to attend public school.
I think the danger for the children is that the parents might teach a one-sided, one-opinioned lesson plan, and also that the parents may not be qualified to teach.  I'm usually for the government staying out of peoples' private lives, but we need to protect the children.

I was homeschooled. My mom tought in the school systems for 10 years and after what she saw decided to take the time and WORK it took to teach me and my 3 younger brothers. I think we learned more and appreciateds more because of it.. OH and by the way! there are alot of ways to be social without sending your kids to these public schools that are all for the most part a big joke.
